I had a chance meeting with a well known actress tonight... |
|
Okay, funny story. Here I was working my day job (which is actually a night job...I'm a mobile disc jockey...weddings, anniversaries, etc.), when all of the sudden this well known Hollywood actress comes up to me and requests some songs. She was very nice, very polite and down to earth, and requested some Stones, Sly and The Family Stone and other cool 60's/70's stuff. The function I DJ'd was thousands of miles away from L.A., just over the Western New York border in Canada. The actress is Wendie Malick. Best known perhaps for her role as the superficial model Nina in Just Shoot Me, Wendie was a very sweet and friendly lady and was very complimentary of my song selection throughout the night.
I have to tell you I was very tempted to tell her I was a struggling screenwriter...but alas, I held my tongue. She liked my music and told me so, I didn't want to ruin it by turning into George Costanza back stage with Corbin Bernsen in that Seinfeld episode!! Making story line suggestions for LA Law and all that. However, I did ask her if she was...and before I got out my next word she smiled and said "Yes, I am." Understood. I gave her her space and allowed her to be just another guest at the party, and she appreciated that.
Anyway...one day I hope to be plying my trade in Hollywood, and maybe one day I'll run into her and remind her of the circumstances surrounding where we in fact had once met before. It's nice to meet a famous person like Wendie, and to find out that without the cameras around to document her every move, that she's just a nice person. That's all.
Kinda cool story, just thought I'd share B-)

You didn't get her phone number, did you?

LOL!! When I got home, naturally I had to go online and Google her name. All the info about her says she's 56 years old.(!!) She is an absolutely stunning 56 year old woman, I'll tell you that. I spoke with her several times throughout the night, as she came up to request this song and that. The TV camera does not do her justice, she is a natural beauty.

8. Hmmm, wonder if that was her husband. I've seen his pic, and |
|
he looks older than middle age.

7. And to make you even happier, she's a Democrat! |
|
According to newsmeat, she's donated to Bill Richardson, Howard Dean, Walter Mondale (for Wellstone's seat), and a number of liberal causes.

Although apparently - if you can believe what you read on the internets - she once many years ago worked for Jack Kemp. I think it was when she was quite young.
I guess I can let it slide...they say youth is wasted on the young, so...
:P -------- edited to fix spelling
