How many/what albums have you bought in the last 30 days?
Edited on Sun Aug-05-07 01:27 PM by mvd
Instead of making it "your last __ number of purchases," I decided to make it over a time period this time.

Here is what I have bought (it's over 20) -

On pre-order or order:

Rilo Kiley - Under The Black Light
New Pornographers - Challengers
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals - This Is Somewhere
Eisley - Combinations
A Fine Frenzy - One Cell In The Sea
Straylight Run - The Needles The Space
Michelle Hotaling - Chained By Dreams
St. Vincent - Marry Me
Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter

Have received:

Stars - In Our Bedroom After The War (from iTunes)
Youth Group - Casino Twilight Dogs
Amy Stroup - Chasing Greenlights
Rooney - Calling The World
Tegan And Sara - The Con
Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
Bon Jovi - Lost Highway
Aly & AJ - Insomniatic
Suzanne Vega - Beauty & Crime
Kim Richey - Chinese Boxes
Saving Jane - One Girl Revolution
They Might Be Giants - The Else

I'm going to break for a while before more. I'm very happy with my purchases!

3. Wow, that's a big list. Sounds like you're in for fun...
All of the local record stores have folded in my area. It's been way too long since I've gone record hunting (although I am very happy with my large LP and CD collections). Thankfully there is an Amoeba Records within reach... I can never get out of one of those without an armful of great stuff, and much that I had to leave behind!

Thumbs up for music lovers!

9. I have a wide interest in music, find a lot of new stuff, and..
also collect. So my lists can be big. I usually buy my albums at sites like amazon.com and cdbaby.com.

16. You must have eclectic tastes.. I only recognize three artists on your list!
I of course knew more about what was going on in general in music in 1987 when I DJ'd in college.

Seems like there's been some change since then ;-)

Enjoy!

My favorite styles are classic rock, power pop, pop/rock, rock, folk, Motown, folk/pop, indie/pop, and classical. I am a pop fan, but not always accepting of what is on the radio. I'm more open to the radio than many DUers are.

I didn't bother to memorize them as I didn't know there would be a test later. Wait, let me look through my CD case and see if I can remember what I've bought within the last month:

Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Bettie Serveert - Attagirl
Buffalo Tom - Three Easy Pieces
Neko Case - Blacklisted
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
The La's - self-titled
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Old 97's - Too Far to Care
Old 97's - Fight Songs
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Tegan and Sara - If It Was You
Yo La Tengo - Fakebook

Yeah, I think that's it... I think Cold War Kids' Robbers and Cowards might be added too, although I'm pretty sure I've had that for more than a month.

Easy Tiger is a good CD, but settles into a mellow and countryish groove - might not be for everyone.

18. funny thing with Ryan
an ex of mine kept making me a cd here and there of him after we broke up; that is how I was introduced to Ryan. She would leave the cd on my windshield, since we had broken up. I really like him though.

And I miss her.

But that's another story and one with no ending.

20. A Fine Frenzy, mvd.
Edited on Sun Aug-05-07 04:36 PM by Misabel
I was introduced to her via The CW using her song "You Picked Me" on a Luke&Lorelai-centric promo (for an episode of Gilmore Girls last season). And then a friend of mine sent me "Almost Lover". Enchanting sound, I thought. I'm definitely thinking of getting her CD the next time I'm buying.

Anyway, the albums I've bought in the last month:

Iron & Wine - The Sea & The Rhythm
Iron & Wine - Woman King

And, 'cause our local Pennylane was (unfortunately) having a going-out-of-business sale:

Josh Ritter - 4 Songs Live
The Concretes - The Concretes
Esthero - Wikked Lil' Grrrls
Tristan Prettyman - Love
Zwan - Mary Star Of The Sea
Amos Lee - Amos Lee
Shakira - MTV Unplugged

Looks like we have similar taste.. I have Josh Ritter (he's one of the best folk/rockers in modern music) on my list, and will also likely buy the upcoming Iron & Wine CD. Enchanting is a good word to describe A Fine Frenzy's music. And she does it without a lot of bells and whistles in the music. Just lovely arrangements and melodies.

32. Wharfedales? I rescued a model 70, IIRC, from the garbage lineup.
It works just fine, looks like a 12" three-way; sounds like it looks too. I can't keep it around much longer, but I couldn't stand to see it going the way of the dodo (I'm very fond of audio gear). Is this the model you have, and would you like a spare? Seriously, I may have to trash it next week or so.
