LADIES only . . .
Anyone wear pantyhose anymore? My daughter was saying the other day how 'gross' they were. One of her ex-boyfriends hated seeing women wearing them - especially the really, really tan ones.
I haven't had them on in years - would feel really strange to me now.

1. Nope.
I have a job where I don't have to dress up (in fact, wearing a skirt or dress would be awkward as hell), so I wear them maybe twice a year -- only when I absolutely have to. Although as a rather oldish person I will say that they are more comfortable than the old garter belts and hose, or -- even worse -- panty girdles! Those were terrible, but pretty much died out some time in the late '60s (along with bra cups shaped like rocket nose cones).

2. I never wear them, personally. Sometimes I wear tights in the winter, though
esp with skirts.

I live in a CA coastal town, where everything is pretty casual, at best. We tend to see more of the professional pantyhose wearers up in The City, SF.

Not my cup of tea, wearing them. Too constrictive.

4. i cannot stand shoes on bare feet except for sandals.
I don't get enough nerve conduction in my legs to stand and walk but enough to feel what is touching my skin - so yes, I do wear thigh high hose with a dress and knee highs or nylon trouser socks with pants. But I am in a wheelchair so actual panty hose are just too impractical. Since I don't do pumps for obvious reasons then all my shoes are flat, but I like to try to be as stylish as I can given my constraints.

5. I don't. I rarely have to wear a dress, but when I do, I go with stockings,
not pantyhose. I don't think I could stand wearing pantyhose any more.

8. I will for formal occasions, but I hate pantyhose. Stockings or thigh highs are more comfy.
Fair-skinned people should NOT be wearing those dark tan hose, though. A fair-skinned person should try to find a sheer nude shade.

9. I do if I am wearing a dress
Which isn't that often since I don't dress up for work or go to church very often anymore.
I wear "B" size even though I am significantly in the A range according to their chart because they feel uncomfortable to me if they are tight anywhere. I go for the colors which are close to my skin color.

10. Well, my mama told me...
that when you wear support stockings, you roll em down around your calves. So that's what I do...it's especially therapeautic for those of us with cancles.

11. The weirdest pantyhose I ever had...
Edited on Sun Aug-05-07 04:31 PM by ocelot
I bought them in London during the summer of 1970. I'd finished college and was hitchhiking around Britain with my boyfriend, and for some reason -- I think we wanted to go to a concert or something -- I decided I needed some pantyhose. So I bought a package, and they were so oddly constructed as to be pretty much unwearable. The legs and the panty were knit in one piece such that the legs stuck out horizontally from the panty, like this:

So when you put them on and stood up, the panty fabric would sort of bunch up in the crotch. I wore them (uncomfortably) once, for the occasion, but never again. However, I did keep them as an example of weird, bad clothing design, and I still have them.

14. Just use a drawing program like CorelPaint,
save the drawing as a JPEG file and upload to Photobucket.

I wish I could have drawn those pantyhose better. They have to be seen to be believed.

15. thanks for the info on the drawing program - i'll have to check it out.
do you think that you might have picked up a pair that should have been *rejected* by quality control? that is just too strange.

17. It's apparent that they were intended that way. I dug 'em out and took a picture:

12. Hate them...
I don't wear them unless I absolutely have no other choice. It's pretty much never now since my wardrobe choices don't require them.

18. Anyone tried those spray on hose?
Are they a viable option? And do they just wash off?

I will hose if I wear a dress in the winter or fall. Definitely not in summer.

19. In the not too distant past
my place of employment required formal business attire. The dress code actually specified no open toe sandals and no bare legs among other things. So I became accustomed to wearing panty hose with skirts and dresses. I also developed a fondness for womens panysuits.

20. Not if I can help it!
I wear pants or long skirts with knee highs if I have to dress up.

Pantyhose could be used as instruments of torture, IMO.
