1. I have an out-of-print Archie collection -
It has Archie's Clean Slate reprinted, by Al Hartley. The Archie crew turned into Bible-quotin' Jesus freaks. The story was all about two of their drug-using friends get in a car wreck and Betty prays with the girl on the side. The teens, witness to a "miracle" of savin', PRAISE JAYSUS, end the comic with "You can read about God's Great Promise in Corinthians 740:201283 or some shit like that".

Go Chick Tract some other comic strip, not my Pals N Gals!

2. We used to get the Christian Archie comics all the time when I was a kid.
And I didn't grow up in a fundy family. We're liberal Methodists. And I liked the comics! Remember, I was a kid; I didn't understand fundy evangelism, mostly because I was rarely exposed to it. My parents said that I should use good judgement when deciding whether or not to trust the preachers on channel 21. Not all of them were loving Christians.

I had never been exposed to a brand of Christianity that made me uneasy and a little afraid. I thought if Archie and the gang were Christians, then that was cool.

I know better now.

3. LOL, the preachers on channel 21 did you grow up in Nashville?
channel 21 was a churchy station.

I am fortunatly old enough to have missed Christian Archie. How did they get away with the trademark laws.

Funny, as a liberal Methodist, I can vouch for that uneasy and afraid feeling that other denominations and sects can cause. Just creepy, that's it.
