"The Good Shepherd" WOW what a great film
SPOLIERS are on the Trivia page here (perhaps elsewhere)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343737/

What a fantastic ride through one man's life and its role in the nuclear age of spying and politics. Great performances across the board. Dinero was apparently working on this for 10 years. I found his couple of parts to be a bit on the editorial side but I agree with what he said so...

The one scene with Pesci and Damon put the CIA into a light that I had never considered. It is born of the lily white elite brahman world of the ivy league-I wonder if that really is, in any way, how they saw themselves then and if it really was meant as THEIR way of maintaining control or influencing events.

The interrogation scene (all the characters are based on CIA figures/stories imbd says) was funny because he did speak the truth re: the fake/overstated Soviet threat.

Was the Bay of Pigs really NOT supposed to work? *NO SPOILERS HERE* I just was wondering if you take this out two or three more steps was it planned to fail-to create another menace right there on our doorstep?

Many intriguing questions but it all boils down to lost love and losing focus on what everyone (even your adversary) told him-don't trust anyone, continue to re-evaluate the situation, use doubt to your advantage.

HIGHLY recommended.

2. The scene with the running soldiers was shot in my building
I haven't seen the movie, but it's supposed to be Berlin. Actually upper east side Manhattan.

4. Transforming DC back to 1960 was amazing
I know that it is just movie magic but the old cars and buses and such just amazes me. Usually they use antique car organization (HEY my car is going to be in a movie!!) but that just fascinates me.

This was Dinero's directorial debut??? I don't think so.

5. think you're right about 'a bronx tale'...but this one brought in some angles...
see at the link some others OH NEVER MIND, i still like The Good Shepard and think Robert showed up to do a wonderful job knowing full-well the scope & sweep of the matter he was to deal with and it showed...yeah, that sounds about right

Damon was somehow both stunningly flat-line & dynamic with his range

but i wanted to just push Angelina's character in a mud puddle for not seeming to 'get' what is was all about much past the pomp, circumstance & prestige of being a Skull & Bones Princess, the poor dear

many amazing players & performances: John Turturro, hit a splendid/tough as nails stride, and Oleg Shtefanko as Ulysses, also a grand contribution

excellent flick

So much I bought it. I had to let the Skull & Bones bullshit go, but other than that, it was a GREAT film.

8. I think he was trying to show that they (our guys) were very united
as the CIA was formed in the bowels of the S&B clubhouse, Poppa Bush and all.

9. Oh, I think it worked okay as a figurative device,
but there was a little too much detail in it for me not to roll my eyes. A lot.
