Especially if he frowned while saying it?

I was just trying to be polite...

1. One time, at the grocery store,
this old Mexican woman started cursing at me in Spanish. I couldn't figure out what she was saying or why she was saying it. So I moved a little closer to her, but she backed up and had this death stare in her eyes like she was trying to cast some kind of evil spell on me. Or else she saw the Devil in me or something. She was really angry and full of hatred and her eyes were lidded. It freaked me out so I just walked away to another aisle. When I got to the front to check out, I had to pass by her again to get in another line so I wouldn't be in the same line as her. When I passed by her she noticed me and started the cursing again. That time it really scared me, my heart started pounding. I got in another line, and the guy right ahead of me asked me, "What did she say?" and I just said, "I have no idea. I do not know her." Fortunately the rack of magazines and gum separated the checkout stands so it blocked my view of her. I kept looking down or away until I was sure she was out of the building.

4. She smelled death on you.
Either that, or you had a little spinach in your teeth and she was just awkward with that kind of thing.

3. Only if they shoved a brown paper parcel into my hands...
..."parcel" sounds so weird..."package" is more natural...but this is the Lounge and I think we all realize the danger of using "package" in that sentance...

:D

7. Well

He opened the outside door, I said "thank you!"

He opened the interior door and I said "Thanks again!"

My intent was not malice as I tend to say thanks when someone does those things.

He was ahead of me and probably thought nothing of it.

Maybe he thought I was being silly for doing what is only a typical act.

I do not know.

6. My friend, who is Korean and speaks both English and Korean...
and I were at a school thing for our kids. This man walks up to her and starts speaking Mandarin to her. Now, my friend LOOOOOOOKS Korean, does not look Chinese at all. The only Mandarin she knows is how to say, "I do not speak Mandarin".

It was pretty funny. She came back to her seat and started laughing when she told me the story. She said, "Do I LOOK Chinese?"
