Okay y'all...my SO is having surgery tomorrow

We've had some ups and downs over the years. Had some hard times lately (I've shared that with y'all), but we've stuck it out.

She's having thyroid surgery tomorrow. She's always been the "go to gal" -- the one in complete control. Now she's in a vulnerable position and I'm feeling really inadequate. She needs me to take care of her for once. I'm scared.

We both could use some good vibes tonight.

The hospital is top notch and the doctor is a really good Dem (he has a Bush countdown clock on his desk LOL).

I just want her to be as comfortable as possible, without any foul ups (by me or anyone else). I'm getting her "nest" set up tonight, new pillows, new comforter, Doris Day DVDs, lime sherbet and chicken noodle soup...:D

My SO and I were in a similar but reverse situation a few years back. If you can have another person, other than her, to lean on, so you can have and vent your emotions away from her, that will be tremendously helpful.

21. ***UPDATE***

Everything went smoothly. Doc removed the thyroid and nodules. He poked around and didn't see any evidence of cancer -- expecting to hear from pathology either Friday, certainly by Monday.

She's doing fine and is enjoying the pain meds. Will begin her synthroid this evening.

I'm keeping her full of Jello, sherbet, and apple sauce. She has the fold-out couch in the living room and plenty of Doris Day DVDs for the duration of her convalescence.
