That last one was a shot into the bullpen! I hope this is a sign of things to come for Todd. If he starts putting up some big numbers, it could really help the Rockies in their stretch run.
Then again, 12 hits and 11 runs in three innings doesn't hurt either...

Now if only my Cubbies could've won.
*sigh*
We're at Coors next weekend for a four-day series.
And I can't go. How's *that* for injustice???

I'm going with a good friend of mine (hopefully) to watch the Rockies continue their winning ways.
Hopefully.

|
By the weekend, it'll be time for them to rest a little. After all...this is the Rockies. We wouldn't want to cause the ERs in Denver to fill up...gotta get the fans used to this winning thing s-l-o-w-l-y.

16. Well, they've won nine straight home series because thier bullpen is better than ever. |
|
As for World Series titles... Well, they've won exactly as many titles as the Cubs have since, oh, say, 1909.

1908, actually. And that year the penant came down to having to replay a disputed game that was originally played at the Polo Grounds. There was some question about a walk-off run and whether it counted and darkness fell before they could resume play so the game had to be called. The Giants very nearly boycotted the rescheduled game, because they felt that they won the first one, fair and square.
The Cubs haven't won one since before they moved to Wrigley.

26. And that's a damn shame. |
|
The Cubs deserve to win a title sometime. They should have won a few in Wrigley. To think that the oldest (or one of the two oldest; I can never remember which) stadiums has never seen a championship home team...
Wrigley is at the top of my list for stadiums I want to visit some day. Coors Field is really nice, but in terms of atmosphere and history, there are only a couple of other stadiums that can even compete with Wrigley.

29. Coors is nice...and a helluva lot better than when they played |
|
at Mile-High...but you're right. It doesn't have the history. That can only come with time and these days they tear down parks before they can acquire the history. Bigger and better is the rule.
Heh...whenever I go to Coors, I can't get past the landscaped bullpens.
One day I'll get to Wrigley.
*sigh*

30. I love the landscaped bullpens. |

It adds a little bit of that famous Colorado wilderness to the ballpark. I like the climbing ivy they have on the batter's eye in dead center now.
Mile High was an interesting atmosphere, especially back in 1993 when it was almost guaranteed that there were almost 80,000 people in the stadium for a baseball game. But Coors is vastly superior. All the Rox need now are those sellout crowds to start coming back on a regular basis, and not only when the Yankees or the Cubs roll into town.

They did it to poor Roger Maris out of spite, they should do it to Barry Bonds too. Maris couldn't help that baseball had a longer season when he played.
I hope fans from every other ballpark hold up asterisk signs when the Giants come to town.

Now let's see if Bud Selig tries to be a leader finally and make some kind of pronouncement one way or the other on how baseball will record this event.
