I predict bad weather a day in advance. |
|
Night before last some of you saw me online all night, heavily medicated and considering going to the ER. I'm usually only in that kind of pain the day before really bad weather.
Last night we had vicious thunderstorms and apparently a tornado ripping through brooklyn. Train and subway lines are down. There is an advisory out to avoid the subways. There is flooding, there are damaged buildings and uprooted trees, and it's a horrible crowded mess.
Wow.
If you're here in NYC and you see me post that I'm in an unusual amount of pain, prepare for bad weather.

1. How are you doing Thom? |
|
I heard on the radio this morning that NYC was still going to be pounded today and then 100+ degree heat on the tails of the tornados.
Keep well and cool my friend.:pals:

6. I'm actually at work today. |
|
I had to take a cab because there was no way I could get on the subway.
I'm in a pretty foul mood today because of the pain but I'm managing pretty well. :)

There are a few of us here in my office who feel the weather, and we're all having a very bad week.

I hope you're feeling more comfortable today.
I've been joking (semi-joking) for years that I can predict the weather. Same thing - every bone in my body aches when a storm is approaching. It even hurts to lie still in bed.
Pain sucks.

I seriously think that a lot of people don't realize that pain hurts.
I would not wish chronic pain on anyone.
 I hope you have better weather where you are.

One of the VPs here at work think's he's being cool by challenging how accurate my pain is. Every time I'm out for a day he checks to see if we have bad weather within 24 hours. And whenever he has one of his bike trips scheduled he demands to know whether or not I feel any rain coming. :eyes:

13. It's a shame that you are so debilitated in the process. |

Too bad you couldn't make good money off of that "talent," although it'd be better to be broke and pain free.
Sounds like a truly nasty weather event. No wonder you were such a wreck.

And you're right, I would rather be poor and healthy. :(

I have pain in both wrist and elbows, and when the weather is going to change, I start hurting at least a week in advance. As it gets closer and depending on the severity, my bullet wound on my chest starts to itch.

I think there are enough of us here at DU who predict the weather that if we got organized about it we could market our aches and pains. :P
Do you think the national weather service would listen to us?

18. Sorry to hear you are in pain, Thomcat |
|
I have a similar problem. I get migraines when the barometric air pressure is either very low (stormy) or, worse, very high (nice sunny days!). I woke up in the middle of the night Sunday with great pain in my sinuses, which then morphed into a migraine. It's bad enough that I get headaches when it is crappy out. It's totally unfair that I feel crappy on the nicest of the nice days!

22. That has to be horrible. :( |
|
Bright lights are a trigger for me, so I have to avoid direct sunlight on sunny days. But as long as I stay inside I'm usually okay.
I feel the change in weather when we go from bad to nice, but that passes after a day, so if we have a string of nice days I'm not usually doing too bad after the first day.

27. Yup. An explanation is nice. |

It's better to know why than to not have any clue.
But I think I'd prefer to have no way of knowing the weather. :P
