he had been all into body building and stuff. Granted, I didn't know what he was like before but the after made me sort of feel sorry for him.

I started a positive thread on Bonds accomplishment, which turned into a hatefest. Is this not the aim when such posts are made? Antagonism? "Fuck ____" does not seem the beginning of a nice friendly discussion. If you refer to another thread, let me know.

As far as Bonds goes, I am and have been a fan of his since the 80's. I am also a baseball fan, and thus, see through all the false outrage. Wanna see antagonism? Just read some of the Bonds haters comments in these threads. Or the positive ones started by fans.

My ignore list remains, as ever, empty.

I am not a baseball fan per se. I do have mixed feelings about Bonds' accomplishments, but I also feel that he is not completely at fault, that MLB itself allowed the sitation with steroids to spiral out of control in order to build up a fan base they had destroyed earlier.

Ty Cobb, Gaylord Perry, John McGraw, just to name a few. All cheaters, all in the Hall. (in case you're wondering, Ty Cobb made a point of sharpening his spikes and sliding, feet up, when stealing bases, Perry was known for using vaseline on baseballs, and McGraw would grab the belts of baserunners to slow them down.)

those cheaters didn't set the example that using dangerous ILLEGAL controlled substances was a good way to get ahead. There is a difference between someone who is merely breaking the rules of his sport and someone who is breaking THE LAW. All those steroid users were as bad as drug users..they were breaking the law. But because it "improved the sport" that little fact seems to get overlooked!

I am not trying to be difficult here, just trying to figure out what the standard is, why is Ty Cobb in the hall of fame and people hate Barry Bonds? the rosy patina of history? how about Kirby Puckett? he was actually prosecuted for assault (which means there was more evidence than anyone has dug up on Bonds, although he was acquitted)
