2. Chris Webber?
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 05:31 AM by AwsieDooger
He called the timeout vs. North Carolina, not Seton Hall.

I don't get that channel, but the classic Michigan/Seton Hall final was '89, pre-Webber and the Fab Five.

3. Ahh Thanks. That breaks the suspense for me....
I'm shifting my attention between ripping CDs and watching ESPN Classic.

I thought I was about to watch a classic choke.

THANKS!

4. I'm envious you get that channel, and that was a great game
The coach from Arizona St took over in midseason for Michigan, right? Bill Frieder? A title in his first year.

I'd love to tape some of those games and add to my library.

Meanwhile, my thrilling wee hour activity is sitting here waiting for a Senior Bowl replay on ESPN, apparently not going to happen. I forgot to tape the darn thing wth all my college hoop wagering on Saturday afternoon.

5. Bummer...
I'd love to share it with you.

I've sitting here ripping CD's and drinking wine (3:30am PST really drunk)

It looked like a tight game. I was kind of waiting for Webbber (need more wine) to choke.

Now, I'm watching Fellowship of the Ring.

Take care.

6. No - Frieder signed WITH Arizona State before the tournament
As a result, Bo Schembechler (the U-M athletic director at the time) fired Frieder, and his assistant, Steve Fisher, took over and the team went all the way.

Fisher was a much better recruiter than he was a coach (he neglected to tell his guys about their timeouts in that NC game) - but the way he allowed the so-called Fab Five to be recruited led to his firing and to Michigan forfeiting an entire season's games and taking themselves out of the postseason for one year to try to avoid NCAA sanctions.
