Imagine by John Lennon - Republicans hate it - why?
I had a right winger storm out of my office the other day when this song came on the radio.

2. Imagine there's no country
Are you serious? That whole song is the antithesis of everything they stand for - it talks about sharing, peace and love. And no country or religion to get all worked up about.

3. Because it encourages one to think about life without religion, hate and war.

7. You could just put a period after "think" and you'd have your reason.

4. Because it's the ultimate liberal statement
throw away your dependency on traditions and use your brain to come up with the best way to live life together.

right-wingers are all about sticking to 'tradition', they believe the 'we've always done it this way' approach to life is the best.

5. Because it makes them think of Mark David Chapman,
Who makes them think of John Hinckley, the OTHER friendless heatpacker who thought he was Travis Bickle and went after a man venerated by a specific portion of society.

8. And also
They're kept up at night wondering if John Lennon really was bigger than Jesus. Next to "The Da Vinci Code", a casual cocky comment by a dead guy is the ultimate threat to their two-thousand-year-old beliefs (with the occasional made-up divine hatred of the same people they hate).
