2. I had a colleague at Playboy who nodded off all the time
We always wanted to snap a pic of a Playmate flashing her boobs over his snoring head, but we never managed it.

3. Stick her in the Ron Popeil Showtime Rotisserie.
Use the special 'Flavor Injector' to add extra sauce to the rack of 'lazy coworker.'
Tonight, everyone eats well!

4. My dear prolesunited...
Well, it depends...

I guess I'd leave her alone...

Does her sleeping affect your work?

Is she in danger of losing her job by being asleep?

8. So, is, she really asleep????
Stick her with the Popiel's flavor injector.

Hello, she may be sick, or really tired. How many hours has she worked this week?

Does she have family problems?

5. If it's obvious that she's asleep, you might want to wake her up.... carefully.
If you have noticed, odds are others may have as well, and her job may be at risk. And there are possibilities of a serious health problem here. Could be a blood sugar problem, or a sleep disorder of some kind. It can also be horribly embarrassing to know you have fallen asleep at your desk involuntarily, so hopefully you can talk to her alone without drawing attention from anyone else if at all possible.

desktop. Then gently wake her and suggest she return to her desk.

Actually, you should discreetly wake her. She might be going through a tough time and sleeping might be difficult.

19. Is she sick?
Daytime sleepiness could be a sign of sleep apnea, or narcolepsy. On the other hand, maybe she partied too hearty last night. On yet the other hand (I have three hands doncha know), some medical studies have shown that taking cat-naps improves the performance of workers. I don't know your co-worker, so I can't judge.

I remember once walking into my office to find the lights off and a colleague with her head on the desk. Since she was normally an extremely hard worker, I decided to let her rest. After a few minutes, she said "Judy, why are you tip-toeing around?" I said something along the lines of I thought she had a migraine, and was trying not to disturb her. She replied that she was hiding. A seriously annoying co-worker was roving the halls, and my friend had no wish to be treated to her obnoxious opinions on everything from sex to religion (sex=bad, religion=good, if it's the right kind. The woman was a Jerry Falwell devotee).

You can't always make assumptions.

Edited on Thu Aug-09-07 11:29 AM by ThomCat
She may have a medical issue that is making her so tired. Or, she might be having a difficult personal life that is preventing her from getting enough sleep at night. Either way, I wouldn't play any practical jokes on her. She probably doesn't need the additional stress.

:(

34. What I would do, quite honestly
depends entirely upon whether or not I like the coworker in question.

If she's an alright person, I might be inclined to wake her gently and tell her to go get some coffee.

If she's an asshole, I might be inclined to let her sleep and e-mail various members of the upper management staff to come down to our department for a quick briefing on our next launch. Heee! :bounce:

Yeah. I'm a bitch. :hi:

37. No, she woke up
And she stayed awake all night tonight because we were extremely busy.

I like her and she's a usually a hard worker, so I won't give her any crap about it. If I saw a boss coming, I would call her name before she got caught.

38. Just be grateful she can sleep.
When people can't sleep, Abe Lincoln, a groundhog and a guy in a deep-sea diving suit hang around their office. That could affect one's work.
