Any advice for learning how to play the guitar? |
|
I bought one for $5 at an estate sale, under the theory that a guitar bought for $5 at an estate sale sounds like the beginning of a mythic career as a rock goddess, and hey, I have wanted to learn to play for approximately forever. So do I need to get lessons or one of those books or start noodling around or how precisely does one go about this?
If it helps any: I know a little music theory but I need a refresher pretty badly. My only previous experience with an instrument is a little bit of piano and keyboarding, picked up a bit with group lessons through parks and rec and a bit through noodling around with a friend's upright and lesson books, and some handbell choir is school.

Take a set of group lessons through community education just to get a taste. Then if you want, you will know a teacher and see if that teacher will do privates.

But he hasn't opened it. Motivation is everything.
