7. My aunt used to raise Great Danes

...her dog Sheba had two large litters, one with 15 and one with 13. Bad thing about Sheba was that she ran around the house dropping the pups, with 6 of us trying to catch them as they came out. Sheba wanted nothing to do with them and would hide under the bed...the pups were mostly bottle fed and it was a huge job.

My sympathies to the doggie mom and the owners.

Cheers

8. I always thought
larger breeds tended to have smaller litters. For instance, a friend recently adopted a black Lab/St. Brainard mix who was a single birth. Duke's so huge (at 4 months, he is almost the same size as another friend's full-blood female black Lab) we joke that he must eaten his littermates in utero. Was my presumption wrong?

17. No

...not at all. All of my Boxers have been from small litters, but for some reason it is not really that unusual for Great Danes to have large litters....IIRC the average size is 6--12 puppies. It's just odd to me also, but the puppies are so much fun and quite a handful in those numbers.

Cheers

11. Link's broken for me.
Too bad. I love puppies, just as long as they're not mine. I've already had my share of furniture gnawed to pieces.

16. Those aren't mine
But it sure does look like that a lot around here! I have a terrorist - er terrier - that holds the world's record for disemboweling dog toys, furniture and pillows.
