Quotes From Vince Lombardi |
|
Does anyone know where a person can get a book written by Vince Lombardi himself, not one written about Vince Lombardi? Is there any type of compilation of Vince Lombardi's quotes? I was hoping to find a book written by Lombardi or something with is quotes in that I like many of the quotes I have heard from him.

3. I have a book called 'Lombardi' |
|
written by Jerry Kramer, the long-time Green Bay guard who threw "The Block" in the 1967 NFL championship game against Dallas. It was written around the occasion of Lombardi's death in 1970. Kramer interviewed several Packers on their relationships with Lombardi, so it contains not only some of his well-known lines but others in personal anecdotes.

Books actually written by Vince Lombardi
"What It Takes To Be #1" "The Lombardi Rules" "Coaching for Teamwork"
Half Credit:
"The Essential Vince Lombardi" (a colllection not actually written by Vince)
All of these titles are available at www.vincelombardi.com (but you're a weenie if you don't buy them at the Packers Pro Shop at Lambeau Field).
Also available online and from used booksellers (I believe it's out of print):
"Run To Daylight"
Why it's out of print is beyond me, I recall it was a good read, whether you're a Packers fan or just like good motivational reading.

5. Buying From the Pro Shop |
|
I have heard that Green Bay Packers games are sold out far into the future, so can someone actually get into the Pro Shop. Also, is there any chance that someone can get any type of ticket to a game if they just want to experience going to a game at Lambeau field. I am not a crazed fan of Lombardi I just think it might be interesting to go to a packers game in that packers fans seem to be so passionate about their team.

7. Season tickets are sold out decades in advance |

A lot of dads in Wisconsin will put their sons on the waiting list, in hopes that they can get season tickets by they time they're thirty. I'm not exaggerating.
You can buy single-game tickets from season ticket holders who can't use theirs for a particular game. Mostly at face value unless it's a very popular opponent (like the Bears -- we HATE the Bears). So getting in to see a game isn't difficult.
Lambeau Field has an atrium area that's open seven days a week (I think -- six anyway). The atrium includes a couple of restaurant/bars, the Packers Hall of Fame Museum (with Vince's office lovingly preserved) and the Pro Shop. So you can stop in the Pro Shop just about anytime you'd like and purchase Packer's logo underwear. I'm kidding on that...I think.
And I think you're right, watching the Packers in Green Bay is like watching the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. It's one of those transcendent sports experiences that you don't have to be a fan to appreciate.

Do you know why the tickets sell out years in advance? Are Green Bay Packers fans that loyal or is it something else? I think the only other team that has the same situation is the Steelers. I think I heard something about the Packers or the Steelers being owned by the fans. Is that true? Is that the reason for the ticket sells?

"Instant Replay" by Jerry Kramer. It's what made me a Packers fan as a kid growing up in the heart of Bears Country.
