As much as I love Solo, the guy wasn't a hand-to-hander and he would face-plant in the first round.

BTW, I have actually heard that Shatner is a Black Belt in Kenpo, and that he actually studied with the legendary Ed Parker. If you saw the episode "Charlie X", Mr. Shatner himself executes a perfect dive roll. It's so good, when we were working on these in our kung-fu school, I replayed it over and over for my wife so she could get it down!

Now Picard had a lot of bar fights as a cadet, whereas Kirk was peeking into the girls locker room, so Picard would stand a better chance vs Solo than Kirk.

There is just no possible way that Han Solo, much as we all love the man, could take (young) Kirk in a hand-to-hand fight. Kirk has at least 20 pounds on the guy and the benefit of military melee training, which he practiced regularly at least once a week between 1966 and 1969.

Now blaster-to-phaser would be another story. I don't think there's any question that Solo would have the clear edge there.
