I swear, the kids are going to ask me every five minutes for the next two hours: Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?

I set the oven timer so they could keep track.

2. Give the dough about two hours to chill...another 30 minutes to bake and cool the cookies...
if you want to help us with putting together the cookies and peppermint cream filling, be here in about 2-1/2 hours! :)

3. eh I never bother with the chill
or if you are doing shaped cookies and really have to flatten the doughball quite a bit and stick it in the freezer until it gets stiff

8. This dough really needs to be sliced, so it has to be chilled.
I could make them as drop cookies, but we're filling them with peppermint cream.

I did consider the freezer. That's not a bad idea.

27. Yeah, well...as long as you don't eat ALL the cookies. However, I must say...
that this has got to me some sort of naughty metaphor: "Your husband wouldn't want me eating your cookies."

11. Woo-hoo!
I'll even help roll and slice the dough.

But don't ask me to time them and take them out at the right time. That's why I do cakes. Cookies've got way too little margin of error.

28. "Can't you make the oven go faster?"
Is it closer to 'soon' now?
Is 'soon' longer or shorter than a minute? How much longer?
I only wanted cookies for my friends, not for me.

God, we used to drive my poor mother crazy. It's a wonder she didn't crack with us ravenous kids.

A fresh-baked cookie would sure taste good right about now.
