Do You Have A Favorite Board-Game? |
|
You know... any sit-around-the-kitchen-table and fun-for-the-whole-family game.
I have two... no three... Monopoly, Scrabble, and Uno.

P.S. House Rules: When the family played Scrabble with my younger sister the "Q" tile would automatically be "Qu" for her.

2. The old Mystery Date game |

I always picked Poindexter out because he looked like he could be a hell cat behind closed doors. I also like the Barbie game from the early 70's.

I don't know if this is a regional thing - we used to play this game called Wahoo which is very similar to Trouble without the popping bubble. I also love Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, The Game of Life and yes, I also loved Mystery Date as a little girl! Oh - can't forget Yahtzee and Uno!

It really is; however there are too many expansion packs by now :-( . And the spin-offs suck (card games, computer games, ...)
Edit: to explain the expansion-mania - basic game - 5-6 players expansion - seafarer Expansion - 5-6 players expansion for the seafarer expansion - Knights&Castles Expansion - 5-6 players expansion for the Knights&Castles expansion - historic epochs expansions I + II -...
The same for the "The Starfarers of Catan" , "Stone Age settlers of Catan" and the "Starship Catan", not to mention the "Catan for Kids"...

8. I love Trivial Pursuit... |

the original version and the Star Wars version both.
My best friend prefers Scrabble but that's because she always wins.
We play Scattergories fairly often as well.

13. Scrabble, I've been playing daily for the last month |
|
I have hated games my entire life. But I have become a huge Scrabble fanatic (possibly because I win quite a bit). If anyone is interested in tournament Scrabble you should average 30 points a turn. Yes 30 points a turn (not including when you exchange tiles). I am unfortunately not that good. I learned the 96 acceptable 2 letter words and many X and Z words from my word lists. I hate the Q tile. And though I dislike "foul" language and tend not to take people seriously who "curse", I always have people I play with agree that "curse" words are permitted.

14. Monopoly, chess, Trivial Pursuit |
|
I enjoy Monopoly, I overreact to chess (if I lose, I get very depressed; if I win, it's like I'm drunk), and I usually win at TP but I am annoyed by the inaccuracies. I used to have a Milton-Bradley game called "Wall Street" where you buy and sell stocks that go up and down based on random news events. I enjoyed it but couldn't get other people to play it with me.

20. Lord of the Rings Risk |
|
Just to let everyone know: I was stunned. I figured it was just going to be a cheesy marketing tie-in, put some Tolkien geography on the Risk board, and that was it.
Nope.
They actually made a brand new game, using the basic Risk "engine", and it's really quite good. 2-4 player, there's a sort of time limit, so conquering the board isn't necessary. The cards are neat, and all the new concepts they added are quite fun. Appears to be very well play-tested, too.
I recommend it for anyone who's a Risk fan and a Tolkien fan.
