So when my car stereo went BANG! naturally I assumed it was fried.
But the garage fixed it by updating its software. It works now.

:wtf:

My car isn't a car, it's a fucking computer on wheels. The mechanic's primary tool nowadays isn't a wrench, it's a CD-ROM.

1. We are entering a two-dimensional world.

2. Some of the younger mechanics have no context for any of the old stuff
I took my first car, a 1969 Chevy Nova, to the garage once for I don't remember what. The 20-something mechanic told me, I'm not making this up, "we'll hook it up to the computer and find out what's wrong with it in no time." After listening to me laugh my ass off for a couple of minutes, the 50-something mechanic also stopped laughing and took over, explaining to the kid that cars who were older than the kid do not have computers.

It was weird and hilarious at the same time. :D

5. He said "it's weird; I hooked it up to the computer, but it can't see the stereo unit"
(which was because I'd removed the fuse).

Damn thing shouldn't have a steering wheel, should have a keyboard and a mouse instead.

3. you're correct
i am clueless nowadays when it comes to cars. older cars are not a problem but if it has a motherboard i'm screwn. :)

i hope it didn't cost as much as a new radio to have them fix it for you. :hi:
