Wingnut hullabaloofest going on: Doris DAY and Arthur GODFREY
Edited on Sat Aug-11-07 04:02 PM by UTUSN
rocking out singing and bouncing to "The Deep Blue Sea".

I'm torn. My quiet old dad had a crush on Miss DAY and passed it on to me. She just projects the sweetest, most decent ---something or other!!1 And that pure voice, and the no nonsense clarity of her persona. In later years, I heard about all the mistreatment she endured from her husbands and managers, and the pain of her friends with AIDS, and the son involved with MANSON. It's almost too lurid.

But trumping it all is hearing LIMBOsevic say a few years ago that she is an avid fan of his, that she used to chat on the phone with his mother. And there she is having the BEST time with jerk (and I suspect wingnut) Arthur GODFREY.

So I've still got a soft spot for her and think she (and Peter O'TOOLE) should get an honorary Oscar. But...

1. So Rush likes the movie. BFD.
Rush is also a fan of Mannheim Steamroller, and so am I.

No frikkin' WAY am I going to stop liking MS just because Rush likes them.

Rush also loves cats.
So do I.

Should I give up my cats since Rush loves cats?

3. I wouldn't be too sure about
"sweetest, most decent — something or other."

From the opening scene in "Glass Bottom Boat":

Jennifer Nelson (Day): Hey! What in heaven's name do you think you're doing?!

Bruce Templeton (Rod Taylor): You talkin' to me?

Jennifer Nelson: Yes, I'm talking to you! That's my suit on your line!

Bruce Templeton: Oh, I'm sorry. That's a funny looking suit.

Jennifer Nelson: It's my mermaid tail, and would you please throw it back?

Bruce Templeton: Well it's kind of difficult; it's all tangled. Why don't you come aboard and I'll untangle it for you?

Jennifer Nelson: Well, THAT's a little difficult, too, since I'm BOTTOMLESS!

4. Yip, when she fell out of favor in the '60s as being supposedly goody-goody
it was a bum rap. But her sexiness is not INdecent. What I meant is that she projects a maturity about sex, which amounts to decency. It's NATURAL.
