1. Sure, rub it in
After I just post about wanderlust. :P

Seriously though, enjoy it. There's nothing better than a long road trip (I took one last summer from here in the Bay Area to Montana to Minnesota to Vermont to Virginia and back to the Bay Area - about 8000 miles. My longest - so far).

3. It ain't wanderlust, it's babysitting.
Believe THAT?

Our daughter (in Boston) wants to celebrate her 10th anniversary in the city where they married.

We're going to ride herd on the grandkids while they go whoop it up.
;-)

Of course we're looking forward to seeing mom and dad too.
And, although I've flown over the southwest a thousand times, I'd really like to see it from the ground.

5. The southwest is probably my favorite part of the drive
I've driven through every one of the lower 48 and find something wonderful about each. But I tend to always drive home through the southwest because it's like dessert - saving the best for last. If you can take the time to hit the Grand Canyon, do it because it's really true - photos don't do it justice.

But just driving the interstate highway through there, seeing the colors and the rocks and the vistas spread out, it's like being in a western movie. Breathtaking.

Take pictures and post 'em for us. :hi:

2. Will you bring me some apple cheese from the Gift Horse when you come?
I've done the drive in two and a half, but that was pushing pretty hard. You'll have a blast!

6. Pick up Route 66 starting in New Mexico
Far more interesting than the Interstate (but at some points you have to go on the Interstate)

9. Oh, and the Sarah Silverman kicker.
Sarah was in my daughter's (and son-in-law's) high school class.
They still keep in touch.
So mommy and daddy may whip up to LA for a couple of days of debauchery with Sarah and Jimmy.
While Miz t. and I have fun with the grandbabies.

Oh, the lives of the rich and famous.

11. Holy Shit! $20 per night "Overnight self-parking fee"!
My daughter just sent the reservation confirmation info.
This is unbelievable.
I'm stealing ALL the towels AND the TV set.

2) Deposit will confirm reservation and will be credited the last
night stay. An early check out will result in deposit forfeiture.
3) The resort must be notified a minimum of 7 DAYS prior to your
scheduled arrival date of any CHANGES or CANCELLATIONS for a refund
of your deposit.
4) Every effort will be made to meet any special requests. However, we
are unable to guarantee requests.
5) CHECK-IN begins at 4:00 PM / CHECK-OUT is at 12 NOON
6) 10.6% tax will apply to all room rates.
(Part of our 'soak the tourists' program.)

Good. God.

12. Sounds like fun, trof! We'll be in southern Utah in October. We've done a lot of flying
and driving in the southwest. Of course, we were passengers on those flights! Our son, daughter-in-law, and two grandkids live in the Salt Lake City area, but have never been to the Red Rock area we'll be visiting. Our headquarters will be in St. George, Utah.

You're in for a treat! San Diego is a great city. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Sincerely,

Radio Lady in Oregon

18. I can't PM you yet.
And I'd rather not put any personal contact info up here, but we have an active South Baldwin Democrats club in and around Foley.

Welcome to DU.

I'll have to let him know that. He's north of seventy now, and in 2004 he went to Pensacola to do volunteer work for Move On. :)
