My Little Girl Is Going To School........ |
|
I know that it's a right of passage that most of us have gone through. I home schooled our daughter in one of the most urban and conservative areas of Ohio. I wanted her to think outside of the box. What you think about home schooled kids is not my issue. I ask kindly that you don't make it about that. Socially and academically she is right on track. Now she is going to be taking that first big step. I am in tears. Being a parent is an amazing thing. She will walk the path and I can walk it with her. Why does this have to be so hard? I want it for her. Trust me I do. But letting go...Just having a Mom moment. I am sitting here in blazing summer heat worrying about her sweater. :) What's a Mom to do? :hi:

 Motherhood is a constant letting go process, isn't it?
I'm sure you've done a great job with her and she will be fine. Yes, starting school is a rite of passage...for BOTH of you.
Good luck! :hi:

Yes, I suppose it is. We are both learning. Letting her go into the world has been tough. May she fly with wings of angels. Or at least find what makes her happy in life. . :)A bartender with angel wings I can accept in college. LOL. I would love her no matter what.

My baby goes off to college next week for pre-season college football camp. Talk about mom anxiety. I have been throwing up for two days straight I am so nervous for him. He's a big hulk of a man but today he was sitting on my lap at camp telling me I am his No. 1 girl. I just love him so much and I don't want him to leave me and I certainly don't want him to get hurt playing football. I dont want to let him go, but I would be a bad parent if I didn't let him realize this dream of playing college ball and leaving the nest. Such is life...

on different ends of the age spectrum..We always worry about our kids. Good job Mom. Send my best to your son. The fact that your big boy could sit on your lap and say the things he said brought tears to my eyes. Tell him to wear his helmet for me as well. LOL. Thank You!

10. Thanks so much for your kind words! |

Best of luck to you and your daughter! I always tell the kids that I would rather love something so much than never had that thing to love. We will do okay! Give your little one an extra kiss tonight...they grow up so darn quick. You sound like a wonderful MOM. Your little one is lucky to have you!

...I'm taking my youngest, a daughter, to college on Thursday. Her Dad is having way more anxiety than I am, guess he's remembering his college days. As for me, I'm more nervous because she's nervous and wondering how we are going to fit everything in my car.
Good luck to your son! :toast:

7. What grade will she be in?? |
|
The triplets start first grade on August 22, a big day for them. Kindergarten went well, but now they will be going a full day. Happily, their mother -- who is an adjunct professor of English at a nearby university -- will not be too far away from their school.
They are to model their new uniforms for me tomorrow...it is a Catholic school. Oh, they are very proud of their uniforms. Of course, they will come to hate them as the years roll on.

and a suggested uniform for school. Uniforms, as suggested, are always wonderful until puberty. I was raised as a Catholic as well. More power to them. Those cute skirts and khaki pants for boys took on totally different meanings as we got older.

9. The girl triplet will wear a jumper with a white blouse.... |
|
and the boys navy blue pants, white shirts or polos.
I burned my grade school skirt out by the trash after I graduated from 8th grade. Never knew that polyester stank so much when afire. My high school uniforms were wool, and consisted of a skirt and blazer. Hot in warm weather and no AC.

I am an assistant principal and I can assure you that if they were at my school the out-of-box thinking would continue. Despite NCLB, I tell my teachers to teach kids to be literate thinking human beings. If I see any "teaching to the test" over a period of time, the teacher and I have a conversation. If it continues, the teacher's evaluation will not be good and, paradoxically, the kids will not perform well on the test.

It's great that you want her to think outside the box. I'm guessing from your description that you live outside of Cincinnati. FWIW, I lived there too for 18 mos., and that area desperately needs more kids who "think outside the box." Kudos to you, and I wish your little one the best of luck.

If you make it fun and an adventure, she will see it that way. If she sees you all sad and stressed, she will worry about you and won't enjoy herself.
You'll be fine and so will she! I promise!

First time in 10 years that I didn't have a kid at home to care for during the day. All my babies have grown up!
