Haikus to a Sunday Morning in New England (8,000th post)

I meant to post these earlier in the week, but time got away from me.

My 8,000th post is, I guess, a good excuse.

This is a follow up to some Haikus I posted in the spring:

Blue Hills, late Summer,
hot day on the skyline path,
the summits beckon.

Small pebbles challenge
every step to the summit
like castle guardians.

Soaked clothes, and dry breath,
the body rebels, and then,
a clearing appears.

beyond the treetops
I see bare granite ledges
the summit is mine.

Boston to the north,
Cape Cod Bay is to the east,
the Great Blue Hill west.

The valleys between,
belong to the cardinals
their songs seem like flutes.
