What is the scariest movie ever?
I watched Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" recently, and I am still scared shitless.

I have to say that I think this movie was the most frightening movie I have ever seen
and I am completely freaked out by so many scenes.

I was wondering what movie you would crown "The scariest movie ever"???

:scared:

1. The hype surrounding "The Exorcist" in 1973 scared me so bad, I still have never seen it.
I was going to put a picture from it here, but after seeing them, decided not to.

2. Some of the old B&W's
Which you can watch free right now here:

Scary as a kid because of how much things seemed out of control of even your parents - a nuclear world and aliens to boot.

I can't really name just one, but then I don't scare easily :)

3. Psycho (1960 version)
Still scares the fertilizer out of me. To this day I feel uneasy showering while alone in the house.

Also, a little-known French horror film from 1960: "Eyes Without a Face", about a scientist performing horrific experiments in order to help his disfigured daughter. Chilling.

1960 seems to have been a prime year for scary flicks.

4. Either "The Exorcist" or the original "The Omen"
I wouldn't watch either of them alone. Sometimes even "Silence of the Lambs" freaks me out, for some reason.

Actually I think a video of the Bush inaugurations would suffice to frighten.

5. I'll say "Alien".
As scary movies go, it doesn't get any better than "Alien". That's a great movie.

7. The Exorcist
Halloween was scarier than Psycho but Psycho was more artistic and interesting.

Alien/Aliens/etc. It was just fighting monsters.

But The Exorcist. A child possessed by the devil. And though I don't believe in such nonsense, I bought it for the movie. Ultimate evil? How far does the demon's power extend? What new horrors await our heroes the next time they enter that room?

8. John Carpenter's The Thing

Although The Exorcist ranks pretty high for me, as well.

10. Rosemary's Baby and Audition (Japonese)
ech, I thought the new WOTW sucked! Dakota was by far the best actor in that film. yech, hated, hated, hated it. And then I got dumped afterwards! Thats a shitty movie! Bad followed by worse, blech. Bad taste in my mouth.
