Geez - if it meant so much for you to support our troops to pay the $1.99 for your 'Made in China' Magnenetic Yellow Ribbon with "Support our Troops" on it then the least you could do is take the 2 whole fricking minutes to replace the damn thing with a fresh one you can probably find at the dollar store for 3 for $1.

What's worse is it's next to your faded "These colors don't run" red, white & blue bumpersticker

1. Don't forget the tattered, threadbare and faded window flag
I saw one of these the other day. :eyes:

2. What's fun is this was on a spotlessly clean oversized Ford SUV
they'll take the time & money to keep their car detailed but can't be bothered to get that slopping peeling yellow ribbon off of the back

3. Funny how all those people were ever-so-patriotic
for less than a year. I saw flag after American flag in the back windows of cars *everywhere* around town. Now, not so much.

4. Your last comment is funny.
The other day, I saw a "These Colors Don't Run" bumpersticker that had faded nearly white in the sun. I wanted to ask the driver: "What colors?"

Instead, I ran the following battles through my head:

The Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Brooklyn Heights
The 1st and 2nd Battles of Bull Run
The Battle of Kasserine Pass

and then I got tired of naming battles that we ran from.

It's not un-American to point out that we haven't always exhibited "stand-or-die" tactics on the battlefield.

5. George Washington was the master at Cut and Running
Sometimes its smarter to fight another day.

6. True, but also, don't forget, it wasn't the cutting and running that won us the Revolution.
As long as we fought guerilla-style, we could hold off, but not beat the British. It wasn't until we started fighting European-style that we started to gain the upper hand.

Cornwallis didn't surrender to a rag-tag collection of armed farmers, but to a trained, disciplined professional army. :patriot:

7. I dunno
My car has a very faded Kerry/Edwards bumper-sticker, but I'm not taking that puppy off until after the Democratic convention in 2008. Then I'll get a replacement. On the other hand, replacement yellow ribbons are available now, though I suggest this instead:
