I actually drove myself to my appointment today and even stopped at the grocery store. I didn't call the bus or ask anyone to ride with me. I did it all on my own.
This is an accomplishment for me because part of my anxiety disorder includes fear of driving but I did it without killing myself or anyone else, or taking out electricity to the whole town, and suffered only a few anxious moments about getting the damned car parked right.
Maybe just maybe another small step toward healing and regaining independence!

Biggo congrats!
Every time you do something that you're afraid to do, and do it well.......
You help conquer your fear!
Those small steps add up, sweetie!
You go, girl!

Good for you!....
I generally dont like to talk about med/psych issues on here, but I have a touch of agoraphobia and defiantly understand what you are feeling... its not something that you can just 'get over'...
feel free to PM me if you ever need some good natured support..

 for the support!
It means a lot.
I didn't get my license until I was in my early thirties and I haven't used it much or wanted to use it much in my early forties but I keep telling myself this is something I am going to have face to move forward with my healing.

My mom didn't drive for years, and I have a distinct memory of being in the car with her when I was a kid, and she was re-learning the skill. I sat in the backseat while she cried and shouted, "I'm gonna kill us! I'm gonna kill us!"
She didn't kill anyone and she drives all over, now.
Independence feels great!

That's no small step - that's a big step, and you should be very proud of yourself.
(One of the previous manifestations of my GAD was a fear of riding in cars; for some reason, I was okay when I was the one driving and thus in control, but riding as a passenger produced horrible panic attacks. I still won't get on a school bus.)
Great job!
