2. Seeing as I am going to three Crowded House shows in three days, I'm going |
|
to pick Crowded House. That, and they are my favorite band of all time.
Although I do love Squeeze, yes I do. Great, great band.

7. We just saw Crowded House live Aug. 3rd. |
|
I never saw them before Paul Hester died unfortunately, but they were amazing in person. I like Squeeze too, but I'd have to go with Crowded House. I would have said the same thing 20 years ago. :hi:

10. There's not a bad song on any real Crowded House album |
|
Squeeze was brillitant at times, but really hit-and-miss in my book, especially after the first break up.
There are a few oddballs on the "Afterglow" album and the "I'm Still Here" throwaway, and I hate the song "Chocolate Cake" but other than that, there's not a song on a CH album that's not at least excellent, if not brilliant or even genius.

12. Together Alone is an absolute masterpiece IMHO. There was a six month period |
|
where I kept that album on endless repeat. Still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Have you heard Time on Earth yet? It's a bit more hit-and-miss but it also started out as a solo Neil Finn project. There are a few brilliant songs and a few not-so-brilliant songs. I'm hoping they do a follow-up with the whole band on board from the get-go.

13. Saw the "Together Alone" tour twice... |
|
the first time may have been the most romantic night of my life, even though things with my date for the evening didn't ever pan out. But just hearing those songs live brought me almost to tears.
Got to briefly meet the band after and get the CD signed. Paul was running around in this huge fluffy "Together Alone" monogrammed bathrobe and was quite the cut up. I believe it was not long after that show that Paul left the band...

16. Oh that sounds awesome! I was at a time in my life where I didn't know how |
|
I would pay my rent so I could never afford to see that tour. It makes me sad to this day. So I never got to see Paulo live in person. And now he's gone. :(
I've since seen Neil solo and the Finn Brothers on every tour, multiple shows. He always sings a bunch of CH and Split Enz material, but this tour is going to be really special for me. I've met Neil a few times now and I'm hoping to meet Nick this time. He was my first love because he's a visual artist and his artistic sensibility is very similar to mine. It may not happen though because the Chicago shows are much bigger than any solo Neil shows I've seen. And at the Milwaukee show I'll be with my husband and we'll have to drive back to Chicago as soon as it's over. Oh well, it's enough just to see them live. And I've heard the new drummer, while not the character Paul was, is handling the job well.
I remember one tour I won tickets to a pre-concert warm-up show. There were maybe 20-25 people present, and we got to meet Neil and he took requests. I immediately asked for "Walking on the Spot" which he played with just a piano to accompany him. I think it was 15 minutes at least before the hair on the back of my neck laid flat again. I know what you mean about hearing the songs live bringing tears to your eyes. Sigh...

They really don't have a bad one. Even the new one, while not perfect, is better than 99% of anything on the radio.

32. He has almost every single thing I find attractive in a man. |
|
He's intelligent, witty, passionate, creative, talented, playful, liberal (yay!)... Add the voice that could melt butter, a sexy kiwi accent, and boyish charm and... :loveya:
Even now that he's a bit older and not as boyishly cute, his eyes are amazing. I've stood a foot away talking to him and his eyes (and the sexy laugh lines around them) are all I can remember. I was having trouble forming coherent sentences. And not just because he's "on my laminated list" but because his music has meant soooooooooooo much to me for the last 20+ years.

24. Here's what you can do with Crowded House... |
|
"Take it to the bridge, throw it overboard. See if it can swim, back onto the shore."
Just kidding. I love them both, but Squeeze wins hand down.

29. The only reason I'm not incredulous at the voting right now is because Squeeze |
|
is such a worth adversary. Man, I would loooooooooooooove to see a Crowded House/Squeeze double bill.
