From work today: "I dont trust a man that doesn't drink!" What exactly does that mean?
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 06:49 PM by maveric
I was dragged into a conversation with one of our sub-contractors and my two co-workers when this bu$h lovin blowhard was yammering about how "we", should go down to this bar after work and have some drinks... He then asked us "who wants to go?" I told him straight out "Sorry but I dint drink." He looks to the ground while shaking his head and says "I just dint trust a man that doesn't drink." Then he saunters out of the room to lay his bullshit on our receptionist.
Granted the guys a Moran but what exactly does that mean?

He doesn't trust a "man" who wont poison himself with booze like he does?

Have you ever heard this line before?

What does he/they mean when they use this one?

1. it's just an old expression
and I would argue about your 'poisoning' accusation. i've known far more 'pure' bodies that get diseased in my lifetime than 'poisoned' ones

8. yes i have heard it
in a career/job context, it is usually a snipe that they think you're an alcoholic and that's why you must abstain, i know some people who have confronted this from co workers

also there's an idea, in a social context, that you are afraid of letting your hair down and telling your secrets because in vino veritas

i wouldn't take it real seriously unless it harmed your ability to network and get things done on the job, you'll find other colleagues and co workers actually prefer to have a non drinker in the mix, if nothing else to be the designated driver

11. I don't trust anyone stupid enough to vote for Bush
I don't like them either. In fact, even the newly-apologetic Bush voters can kiss my hairy little ass. And I will never give a good goddamn what any of them think about any fucking thing in this world, because they have been proven to be some of the biggest cretins and blowhards of all time.

And neither should you. Fuck that guy. Right about now, he's annoying the fuck out of everyone within earshot at that bar.
