tells themselves that they'll finally get caught up on all they stuff they've ignored in order to noodle around on DU, and instead spend the day off noodling around on DU?

1. Hmph! We haven't gotten our once-a-winter ice day yet!
x(

But usually, I stay warm and goof off on DU, instead of being productive.

8. Well, see, that's the downside.
The weather is pretty even-tempered around here. Which leads me to the pointed question: "Unexpected days off...?! What is this thing of which you speak."

11. We usually get one per "winter".
It's almost February and we haven't had ours yet.

Come to think of it, we still go to work when it's 110 in the shade. We got hosed!

12. I'm in Chicago.
And find "unexpected day off" a foreign term as well. We are expected to tough out snowfalls and get to work come hell or high water.

9. I actually got stuck going into work on my day off
That'll teach me to answer my cell phone when I see the work number pop up on the screen.

I live less than 2 miles from work, so when almost everyone else called off my boss was begging me to come in and cover.

Plus, I might get stuck here tonight if the night shift doesn't show up.

That's it, I'm moving 45 minutes from work!!!

13. I just sleep and read all day
pretty much the same thing I do on weekends, vacations, and sick days.

Wish we got more of those unexpected days off. One every few years around here, at least due to the weather.
