"Titanic" Appreciation Thread.
Shit on it all you want people, but Leo is HOT and an environmentalist that is trying to make changes, for the better in this world.

I'm sorry if the movie didn't "fit your bill", but it was "entertainment'.

Get a fucking grip....I like, so "gasp" hated "Natural Born Killers." YAWN. But is was "entertainment". Opinions,; remember those?

1. My Mom interviewed to be an extra for "Titanic"
In 1996 they held a casting call for extras (of European ancestry only!) in San Diego, which has a large Mexican-American population. Being of Irish descent, she went to the interview. They told her if she wanted to be in it, she had to show up every day at the border at 6 a.m. for 2 weeks. Buses would take them from the border to the shooting location just south of Rosarito Beach, Mexico. This basically meant her getting up at 4 a.m. every day for 3 weeks. She was 77 at the time so she decided not to do it, but a couple of her friends did. They quit after 2 days. They said the working conditions were horrible, they had to wear heavy, uncomfortable clothes for long periods of waiting around, the food was awful, and people were grumbling a lot. Many people didn't come back after the first day. So my Mom was extremely glad she never went.

3. I liked Titanic
I think for me it was the depiction of the sinking of the ship. I had relatives that died on the Titanic and for me it was both fascinating and heartbreaking to see the whole event. Of course, I don't know how accurate it was but I liked it.

10. Yeah, entertainment.
Sucky entertainment.

And "Natural Born Killers" was produced by Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake.com--which, if we're throwing down about contributing to causes, has done more for liberalism than Pretty Boy has for environmentalism.

15. In that case
I want to amend my previous statement.

Taste in movies really doesn't matter. Being a Red Sox fan would be bad enough.

11. I am not ashamed to admit I absolutely love it
When I saw it in fifth grade, the reason I cried at the ending wasn't necessarily because Jack died, but because I knew that those terrifying events actually happened to all of those people. It fueled my interest in the subject of the historical Titanic, and I researched many fascinating books on the subject that I still love to read. I think it helped push me to become a history major. In addition, it was a very well made movie as far as careful attention to costuming, set details, and the actual passengers who sailed. :D

16. It was one of the greatest films ever made.
The film was one of the most popular and most critically acclaimed of all time. Some people think it's cool to hate what is popular--that might explain why Democrats lose so many elections.

19. Nothing against Leo...
I just didn't think the movie was all that great.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hated it. And I certainly don't think less of you for liking it. :hi:
