1. They mostly work on low-pitched sounds |
|
Like airplane engines, fans, etc. They do NOT block noisy talkers necessarily but they do block enough noise (on an airplane, say) so that you do not have to turn up the volume as high.

3. I have a pair of sensienhim (sp?) ones, and yes, they do. |

They tone down voices (they don't cancel them though). They get rid of cars, engines, help with lawn mowers and alot of TV noises. I have really enjoyed them. My one issue is that they are very bulky, and there fore you can't just put them in your pocket.

4. I use Sony Fontopia earbuds, and they do the trick quite well. |
|
Not sure how well that type of headphone works though.

I use headphones all day at work so I've tried just about every freaking kind under the sun. Shop carefully for the noise canceling headphones. Some of them just amplify the sound they don't really cancel other sound. I'm currently wearing a pair of Phillips noise cancelers with very comfortable varying sized rubber earbud covers. The earbud helps block out some of the noise just by itself and then when you turn it on there I think it really makes a difference in blocking out background noise.Model shn2500, I think I paid less than $30 for them.

7. I don't know about that particular model, |
|
but if you fly a lot I would DEFINITELY get something. All of that airplane noise will really rattle your cage after awhile. I find I am so much more rested when I get off of flights now.

10. I have $40 ones from Radio Shack. |

They work good at removing the backgound aircraft noise during flights.
