People who drive 10mph in the snow should have their licenses BANNED!!!!!!
Ok, we got about 4-5 inches of snow and DE does a good job of getting the main streets plowed. I can appreciate the fact that some folks (including myself) might drive somewhat more cautiously and even a little bit slower than the speed limit.

BUT IF YOU'RE GOING TO DRIVE 10MPH IN A 40MPH ZONE THEN GET THE HELL OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THAT'S THE TYPE OF DRIVING THAT CAUSES ACCIDENTS IN THE SNOW.

This lady is driving, at tops, 10 MPH on a 40mph road. The road has a slight curve in it which means if someone was coming around the curve at 30 mph they'd probably crash into my car (cause I'm behind her) causing an accident.

I just so have to rant because I got stuck behind this slow moving vehicle. I mean, it's not snowing, the roads are plowed and salted - move your damn car!!!!!!

Ok I'm done bitching.....

1. Wow...even I know better than that!
Just slow down as you would for wet roads if the plow has already done its job.

Maybe I can move to snowy northeast after all. Of course...mid-60s in January is tough to give up...

Ours are in Charlotte, so I won't be driving more than fifteen mph...

EDIT: Maybe twenty to thirty on an artery...

I don't know how to drive in snow.

Edit: And my boss, from upstate NY, just left a message. Oh goody. I'm sure she'll be stark raving mad that I'm not there. Help me buck up before I call her back...? Please???

40. Born In Snow
.. even those who are born in snow drive that way. It amazes gator how many accidents there are here in our part of Canada , when it snows. The good news is we have the "cream of the crop, state of the art" snow plow equipment. They break out here in our wee village ,and we get to watch the clean up process from our apt. window. Still the drivers maneuver in their ridiculous manner.

48. wouldn't know it to hear my boss talk.
There are six inches outside my house, and even though the street has now been plowed and my neighbor plowed my driveway, I am not going out.

Tomorrow -- Mrs. V. has a test on the other side of the got-damned beltway, and we have to get out in it. Cross your fingers.

Make sure to bring a snow shovel, so at least if you get stuck, you can dig yourself out.

5. I nearly collided with 4 different cars
on my way into the U of D today, because of the same reason you mentioned. One person stopped dead in the middle of a busy intersection, and I(in my little car with the bald tires) was barely able to get my car stopped. And of course, it was SO much fun trying to get going again...

I hate snow.

You can't say you were in Delaware unless you've been to either Happy Harry's or Total Wine (the one on Naeman's Road is much better thant the one on Limestone Road. Naeman's road is like a freaking K-Mart of Alcohol)

42. You'd think that they would get enough out-of-staters
since DE is so small, and on the way to so many places, that the clerks would be used that by now. Besides, you'd also think that you'd have to have a sense of humor if you worked for a place called "Happy Harry's."

Hubby had a problem with folks passing him in bad weather here Friday and then slowing down--and every time it was someone in an SUV with him in his little Kia! :eyes:

Altho it's a toss-up on who's worse---the slow bugs or the cowboys who speed along, fish-tailing all the way!

EVERYONE loses their minds when it snows or even if little drops of rain drop out of the sky. EVERYONE drives like that lady going 10MPH. EVERYONE. We have a 60% chance of snow here today, and I'm telling you, I'm thankful I live on campus, because I truly fear other people in this kind of weather. Be happy it's just one lady, and not a million retards driving in the snow. They act like they've never seen the stuff, I swear!

I agree they are dangerous... but so are the fast drivers in SUV's and trucks. They think 4 wheel drive means they can drive fast. What it really means is after you slide into a snow bank, you can get out.

When you're driving on snow, it's not how fast you can go that matters, but how fast you can stop.

For all you know, the lady in front of you could have really crappy brakes.

54. Everyone in Seattle drives that way
if there's so much as a dusting on the ground, and it's hilly here. We don't plow or salt, either; they'll eventually plow the freeways and sand the major roads, but all sand does is make the ice gritty. So, when it's below freezing and there's precipitation in the forecast, I stay home. It's not worth having some bonehead in a two-ton Urban Assault Vehicle plow into me and kill me. I'll use a day or two of vacation; it's not like snow lasts longer than that around here, anyway.

We already got our two snow days for the decade earlier this month. Fortunately, since I work for a school district, they actually closed the district for one and a half of those days, so I get paid and don't have to use my own vacation time for it. Yay! We probably won't get another snow day for four years.
