16. One of my favorites, too
Always makes me want to jump around the room. I'm partial to Parachute Woman from Beggar's Banquet also, just because it's great to play along with.

There are too many great Stones tunes to pick any single one out as the best.

15. I love "Can't you hear me knocking"
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 10:34 PM by Danmel
I taught the kids "You can't always get what you want" when they were about 5 - anytime they wanted something I didn't want to ge them, I'd say "What do Mick and Keith say?" and they'd start singing 'You can't always get what you want"- Defused the situation and everyone around us got a kick out of it.

I also really love "Happy" from Exile on Main Street

"I never kept a dollar past sunset, always burned a hole in my pants...."

21. "The Singer Not The Song"
an obscure ditty from one of their early albums, December's Children. It is a re-working of The Beatles "Not A Second Time" The Stones guitars start out totally out of tune and as the song progresses they get more in tune. very subtle, very snarky, guess they were still pissed about I Wanna Be Your Man.

30. I like them all, but went with "Ruby Tuesday".
Besides being a great song it served as a nice antidote to all the "old people" complaining that they couldn't understand the lyrics or there was too much 'lectric geetar.

35. "Coming Down Again", "Sway",
"Tell Me", "Dandelion", "As Tears Go By", "Paint It Black", "Mother's Little Helper", "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby...", "Dead Flowers", "Wild Horses", "No Expectations", "Angie", "Paint It Black', and "Out of Time"; off the top of my head, those are my favorites.

My favorite albums are Flowers, Between the Buttons, Beggar's Banquet, Sticky Fingers, and, even though it's a compilation so including it probably makes it cheating, Through the Past, Darkly.

41. Yes, "Have you seen your mother, baby, standing in the shadow"....
...."Tell me a story about how you adore me
Live in the shadow, see through the shadow,
Live through the shadow, tear at the shadow
Hate in the shadow, and love in your shadowy life...

Waiting on a friend
Love this song!

Watching girls go passing by
It aint the latest thing
Im just standing in a doorway
Im just trying to make some sense
Out of these girls go passing by
The tales they tell of men
Im not waiting on a lady
Im just waiting on a friend

A smile relieves a heart that grieves
Remember what I said
Im not waiting on a lady
Im just waiting on a friend
Im just waiting on a friend

Dont need a whore
I dont need no booze
Dont need a virgin priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect
Making love and breaking hearts
It is a game for youth
But Im not waiting on a lady
Im just waiting on a friend

The Preacher said "You know you always have the Lord by your side"
I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran 20 red lights in his honor.
Thank you Jesus, thank you lord.

40. "Let it Loose" from Exile on Main Street. Gut wrenching vocals
Followed by "Torn and Frayed" which is some fabulous country.

Loved Mick's falsettos also on "Worried" and "Waiting on a Friend." And even on "Emotional Rescue."

could never sing.
It is an astounding vocal performance. Beautiful.
