What are you doing this instant? |
|
I'm finishing off a pint of Baltika, watching the kids as they watch Fritz Freeling's "The Lorax."
Yeah I know Dr. Seuss wrote that book, but the TV special was all Fritz Freeling, with the zappy disco music in the background to the additional scenes they put in. It's a classic.

6. I am on my bed alone in the Prescott Hotel in San Francisco, drinking a diet sprite with Skyy Vodka |

I am at a conference and thought I might enjoy SF. It is way too noisy, too many people, too much traffic and honking. People are driving like CRAZY.
I miss my future husband who is alone with our dog Leo and cat Tommy just 2 1/2 hours NE of here. However, I have the key to the bar

Go find the SF Brewing Co or the Rogue Ale House and hang there. Have a beer or 12.
In the morning, go out and find Muir Woods.

19. I wouldn't even know how to get there...and I have to be at the conference |
|
at 9 am in the morning.
I walked by Tiffany's, Sacs, Gucci, Louis Vuitton...a lot of women would be so excited and go shopping. I just want to go back home. I saw so many homeless people.
I had two Bloody Mary's at the Johnny Foley's Irish House. It was the only place somewhat appealing to me.

Mine didn't taste metallic, but it did taste REALLY malted like most Euro beers do.
Not a complaint, just an observation.

29. Listening to some music |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-18-07 01:23 PM by mvd
samples from Augie March. I ordered the CD from Amazon Vine free (a service they give to reviewers they find helpful,) and I'm likely going to give it a great review.
Also heard lately:
Eisley - Combinations (not as wistful, but the new edge complements the beauty perfectly)
Rilo Kiley - Under The Blacklight (a very adventurous mix of alt country, 80s dance, modern pop, and R&B - there's no power pop hit like "Portions For Foxes," but the CD was so delectable that I didn't care. Jenny Lewis's lively vocals also help the CD.)
Lori McKenna - Unglamorous (the music is good, with lyrics being her strongest point. The music is a bit samey and her vocals aren't super strong, but Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore don't overproduce.)
New Pornographers - Challengers (more pop brilliance with some of their prettiest songs - "Challengers," "Go Places," and "Adventures In Solitude.")
