Do you like to read Janet Evanovich novels? |
|
I just started reading her Stephanie Plum series and I'm hooked! A neighbor of mine got me started with them and now I can't put them down. I also like James Patterson's writing. Quick and sharp with short chapters.
What are some of your favorite authors?

1. Not me, but my wife is a huge fan. She also reads, Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, Parnell Hall, |
|
and she just started reading Kathy Reichs.
I tend to read more non-fiction: biographies, history, books about books, etc.
Great question!

5. Try Carole Nelson Douglas! she writes in several genres: |
|
light weight serial mysteries: Midnight Louie (begin with CatNap and work your way through) The Irene Adler Series (a female contemporary of Sherlock Holmes) there is also a fantasy/romance series and a historical series as well.
Midnight Louie is a 20 pound black cat who is also a PI, and these are great stories. Set in Las Vegas, continuing characters; it is fun to watch these characters mature and develop over the story line.
I think Sue Grafton is good but completely different style, not as much of a farce as Evanovich's books.
I also love Patricia Cornwell, Jeffrey Deaver, Daniel Silva,The Cat Who...series and The #1 Ladies' Detective Agency series (Alexander McCall Smith is the author)

8. Just checked three of those |
|
out of the library yesterday!! Can't wait to start reading them. I was looking for the 3rd book in the Stephanie Plum series and it was checked out, however, the more I looked around, I found this book caught my attention. I got the first 3 in that series.
I'm glad you mentioned them:D

I'm not into this trendy writing that much, especially the ones that are formulaic. I'm pretty unabashedly a music/literature elitist, but I don't really care what other people read, so...

7. You might want to check out The Yiddish Policeman's Union... |
|
by Michael Chabon...
It's a great book about a detective in an Alaskan Jewish relocation city that is about to be eliminated...
It's a great read, wonderful language and good charactors....

I can't stand the Evanovich/Patterson school of "writing."

6. I have gotten hooked on the Plum series, too |
|
It's a lot of fun. The cars blowing up in every book, and the crazy grandmother, and the fact that some of her quarries end up in her apartment and then get away from her - too funny.

Sue Grafton's series.
