My painless weight loss tips. This is not something you do if you
are in a hurry. I started in November.

I have lost 10 lbs by doing two simple things. First I stopped drinking sodas. Diet or regular, it doesn't matter. Quit them

I cut portion size.

It's easy, inexpensive and it worked.

1. That is the smart approach
Make lifestyle changes that you can continue. All this cutting carbs stuff is idiotic.

2. And I did this without an exercise routine. I've been rather lazy the
past few months, so I was surprised by the weight loss.

It's the simple solutions some time. It didn't take money, it didn't take study, it just took a small change in behavior.

3. Actually I was thinking about that
If you add a 30-minute walk or something a couple times a week, you would lose more, and still easily. And still making simple behavioral changes that you can keep up over time.

4. I used to walk quite a bit, but I've been hobbled by two broken
toes, one after another. that broke my routine and it has been hard getting back into the swing of things.

Nothing like a broken bone to keep you from exercising!

6. Congrats!
That's a really wonderful start! And it does work better and more safely to approach it that way.

I started in November, too, when my doc said I was diabetic. I've lost 25 pounds and my blood sugars are fantastic and no diabetic meds at all.

I did the same thing you did plus cut out as much HFCS and hydrogenated oils as possible and switched to more whole foods and whole grains. We read the labels in the store and watch for those things and won't buy bread that is not made with whole wheat flour instead of any kind of enriched flour.

Plus I eat smaller portions with healthy snacks in between meals to keep me from becoming voracious by meal time and over eating.

Keep up the great work! It really is good to feel better on a daily basis even.

8. I cut the hydrogenated oils a long time ago, same with refined
grains, so my loss is less dramatic as you.

9. Congratulations! I also started my weight loss journey in November.

It ain't easy, is it?

Down 25 lbs., about 20 more to go.

Exercising 3-4x per week, eliminating as many processed carbs as possible.

11. sodas, totally
sodas make it harder for me to keep thin, no matter how little I eat. I didn't drink sodas for a few years but then lately I started drinking Sprites,1 or 2 a day, I mix Sprite and orange juice with ice and it's so yummy and good! but it's making it harder to stay thin, if I want to keep having the Sprite I'm gonna have to walk twice as far.

15. GOTTA be a fellow Midwesterner if you say "pop"
we quit all pop three years ago (it was diet pop) and immediately dropped 10 pounds each (hubby and I).

We went back to real fruit juice, real sugar (in natural, moderated amounts)and are SO much better for it. My headaches went WAY WAY WAY down almost instantly when we dumped Nutrasweet type sweeteners.

22. I remember trying to order a pop down south many years ago
and having a waitress look at me with puzzled silence. I tried to explain, and she then said "oh, you mean a Coke". Once I moved to the panhandle of Fla years later, everything was a Coke, even if it was Pepsi. If it was clear, it was 7-up.

Most other places is is a soda, except in the dear Midwest, where is is pop, you warsh your clothes, and you play in the crick.

I rarely drink. I'll have a shot of Bourbon every now and then.

but I don't drink. Even us drinkers don't have "a shot of bourbon now and then". Well...at least MY drinkers don't. Good for you. It'll all work out.

29. yeah, I'm a loyal Kentuckian. I have to have at least one of our big
three vices: tobacco, horse racing, or bourbon. As a general rule, I don't drink. It is not a big part of my diet. To me a person that drinks is a person who prefers alcoholic beverages over others when given a choice. It's an important part of their lifestyle. They like to get a buzz, I don't. If you like bourbon but don't drink to get drunk, go for good quality, complex bourbons like those out of Buffalo Trace, or Knob Creek. The satisfaction comes from the taste, not the alcohol content.

I haven't touched my bottle since early spring and won't until the weather cools. Alcohol messes up a person's ability to handle heat.

31. Alcohol messes with the body's ability to handle heat. I used to
work out in the weather and it is miserable enough without the lasting effects of alcohol making me more miserable.

32. I guess what I'm asking is...
how does alcohol manifest itself with regard to heat? Do you...sweat more? Get headaches? That kind of thing.

33. I think it messes up the heat regulator in the brain. The report I read
said the effects last up to 10 days. I wish I could remember the source.

But a cold beer does taste good on a hot day. So does lemonade.

27. Great job!
I gave up juice and soda and don't miss them a bit. I'm 15 lbs trimmer, at my healthy ideal weight, and holding steady for several years now.

Next on the ditch-it list are those grande lattes. :donut:

I don't drink soda and eat fairly healthy. It's too hot to go for a walk now, what with heat advisories.
