My brother just left for college
and i miss him already. we've joked this week that my mom was going to cry a lot when he left so i was surprised and a little bit embarrassed that i cried. :(

my brother and i fight sometimes but despite that we are close, and have gotten closer as we've gotten older. i'm going to miss him a lot. i'm sad that i won't see him every day but i'm really truly happy for him that he got into a good university and is studying something that he's passionate about.

please send him your good vibes for his first day of college on monday.

1. It's okay to cry, Ava. Don't be embarrassed.
Look at it this way: In a few years you'll be heading off to college as well.

I wish him the best in his college years - if they're anything like mine, he has an excellent few years ahead of him - and so will you!

2. thanks
i actually will be heading off to college next year if i want. i'm a year ahead in school though so i've thought about taking a break in between graduating and college to travel a bit. it all just depends.

most of my brother's friends go to the same school he is going to or else live in that area and go to the other schools there so i'm sure he'll enjoy his time in college (and his independence). i'm going to miss him though.

3. good vibes to him...
and to you Ava

it's a hard thing... he'll have fun and hopefully learn something too, and you'll get to see him and probably still fight some, but probably will become closer in some ways too.

5. Aww hon
just because you fight doesn't mean a thing...

Just think of how good its going to be to see him when he comes home on breaks....

Good Luck to him its a huge step but if he is half as grounded amd mature as you are
he will do fine
Whats he studying???

:hi:

7. Good vibes heading your way, for him, for you
so you won't miss him so much. It's completely natural to be sad, the order of things are changing.

And moms ALWAYS cry when their babies go off to school, college - whatever. And then when you get older, they cry when you visit them for vacation and you leave! LOL. (I know cause I am one! LOL)

20. i don't want to post the school he's at
just because i don't want to post that personal info about him on here. i know it's a needle in a haystack to find him at a huge university but my name is over the net and i don't want to post anything that would give away any of his personal info. he got into a really good school is all i'll say. ;)

ROLL TIDE! :P

16. It's hard when you realize that time of your life
when you were kids and you always lived together has ended. That hit me hard when my older sister went off to college. It's just hard to grasp that it will never go back to the way it always had been, and I don't think enough attention is paid to that transition in our society (as far as the siblings left behind). I understand you you feel, completely.

21. To quote our daughter after big brother left,

"I guess I do miss him -- there's nobody to fight with."

It's a bittersweet time but it's good to hear that you care about each other.

over the past few years we've gotten close and actually talk and hang out together, so i'm going to miss that. :(
