My friend is at GITMO!

It's not that you're thinking. My friend, Cindy Alexander http://www.cindyalexander.com/ and band are on another USO tour. This time they are at Guantanimo Bay, Cuba. They arrived just in time for the hurricane! Here's her e-mail. I can't wait for the pictures and stories. The last tour they did was for the troops based in Japan and the Pacific Rim. They had a great time and had wonderful stories. From the sounds of it, her and my friend Tina's (back singer) hair probably looks Chaka Kahn right now.



We're here....at GITMO. Who would have EVER thought??? And by 10 pm we are under curfew until 3 pm tomorrow and can't leave our room! People are having hurricane parties. We have sandbags in front of our hotel (very VERY nice military lodging by the way - we have a suite). Flew in around noon, got picked up by a school bus (standing room only - lots of families traveling back "home") and then put on a Uboat (surrounded by coast guard with guns pointed every which way) which took us to the main part of the base. Just getting settled in now ~ we got picked up at 3 am yesterday to fly to Jacksonville and were in the lobby to go to another airport this morning at 6 am - so we're chilling tonight. And watching the storm. Very curly weather here.
