If you could start your own religion, what would it be like?

Would it have one or many gods? Would there be a hierarchy of priests or would it be entirely nonhierarchical? Would it be book-based? Would it approximate an ancient religion (priests in robes, etc.) or be very modern?

15. I tried to be a Greek Polytheist in high school.

There weren't any temples in my town. ;) Seriously, though, I adored Athena and Aphrodite. That's a pretty damn groovin' religion. Great stories, anyway.

It would require its adherents to admit their sins and imperfections. It would admonish them to forgive and not to judge. It would elevate humility and gentleness. It would require its adherents to love all their fellow human being as much as they love themselves.

The only downside I can see is that eventually it would be used to justify hatred of homosexuals, socialists, foreigners, etc.
