He may be unable to breathe through his nose for some reason. Both my partner and my son have this problem - not that it stops me from yelling at them.

We have a guy here at work who wears loose false teeth and has a sinus problem. Not only does he chew with his mouth open, he also clicks and snorts.
I always have to leave the room for fear I'll self-implode.

11. Maybe he's speaking a Bantu dialect...how intolerant of you!! |
|
:D Some Bantu languages, notably Zulu and Xhosa, have borrowed click sounds from the San (Bushman) languages.

6. Huge pet peeve. New York's mayor did that when he slammed Atkins. |

Never show the food in your mouth when you eat! I hate it even more than people who surround their plates with their arms, and look like they may backhand you if you they think you may be interested in what is on their plates. :D

a pig at a trough -- snarfing, mouth-open noises that totally destroy my appetite. It doesn't even matter if you refuse to look at him; the noises are just beyond disgusting. I hate to stay for dinner.
Anyone with breathing disorders who has trouble eating and breathing at the same time should take very small bites and swallow quickly. Why would someone with a breathing problem stuff his mouth full and chomp away? I can't believe this as a reason for loud, boorish eating. I think it's simply boorish behavior. The rest of us manage to have decent manners when we have totally stuffed-up noses due to head colds, and what's the diff?

And usually, they don't even realize they do it because no one ever says anything. And if there's a reason, fine...but don't do that around me. Duckie

14. sometimes is a cultural thing |
|
a girl used to work where I do that was born in another country. She would slurp her food and burp during her meals. At first we were shocked, but were then told by others of her same ethnicity that that's just the way it was back there. She did not smack her food once in her mouth and did not chew with an open mouth, but the burps always caught us off guard.
she was the sweetest person in the world, so no one ever said anything. In reality it wasn't a big deal, just a cultural difference.
