Cellphone, cellphone & cellphone. |

By the way, I really can't stand cellphones. I've never had one and hopeflly never will.
You will never convince me that it is safe to put a little microwave producer next to your head every day. One of my pet peeves is rude cellphone behavior. Is it really that hard to turn those things off in a restaurant, movie theater, etc., or are those folks just so importnat that they need to take those calls.
Sorry for the rant, but I really dislike cellphones and the people who seem to be constantly tied to one.

32. Ok, here's my choices (EDIT: 4 of them) |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 06:31 PM by pmbryant
(1) Telephones in general. (Though the invention of the answering machine and voice mail has made the telephone much less intrusive.)
(2) Car alarms.
(3) Gas-powered leaf blowers.
Looking forward to the actual list. :-)
EDIT: Oh how could I forget! My number one choice these days is actually the dial-up 56K modem. Mine never works right, despite huge amounts of time over the years I've spent troubleshooting/testing/replacing it. Bump all the others down a notch.

How can you stand it? I was at my dad's house one day and went to check something on my brother's computer and thought I would lose my mind.
I had voice mail through the phone company so calls would go directly to a remote machine and AOL. By the time I cut both services, it was almost equivalent to the bill for a cable modem.

Lately it hasn't been working. And when it does, it is interminably slow, even by dial-up standards. And I have run out of ideas on what to do next. I think it might be finally time to move into the 21st Century and get DSL or something, or I won't be able to read DU from home any more. :-(

on several occasions I'm quite glad of the invention of mobile (cell) phones the only problem is with the percentage of people who use them to call home to say "I'll be home in a few minutes" or those who insist on having loud private conversations on public transport - but plenty of people did that with the person sitting next to them before the invent of cell phones so can I go with people as the worst invention?

But then, I can only assume that people are ranking these based on their own selfish greed and needs, and not objectively.
If objectively, they'd include TV, wedding planners, plastic, internal combustion engine, mines, nuclear weapons...
