"cheesiest" music (song/album/artist) that's gotten you through tough times
I guess I should put lay down some background on this. I think its pretty safe to assume a lot of us use music to get us through the tough times in our lives. Sometimes its your favorite artist/band, but sometimes its by someone who you normally don't listen to, or a genre you particularly despise.

I had an "out of the blue" conversation with an ex of mine yesterday, about some mundane topics. I haven't talked to this person in months and we hadn't been together for over a year, however I was in love with her. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say, I had some old emotions pop up that I didn't think were there anymore. I found myself turning to an old album that her and I both shared a long time ago (seemingly).

James Blunt - Back to Bedlam

Now, I'm not a huge fan of this soft rock stuff, but this album just speaks to me. Maybe its the memories related to this album, or the mood of the music, or something else entirely. I make sure not to listen to this with others around :P I can't lose my street cred!

Who else is man enough to admit it!

2. "You Got The Music in You"
New Radicals guy. (I'm thinking that's the name of the song; maybe a subtitle?) "One dace left/ You know you're gonna pull through" etc?

Sorry, unfamiliar with yours. But I used to listen to this easily once a day--sometimes twice--on commutes to and from work during a rough patch.

:hi:

4. I think the name of the song is
"You Get What You Give"

... but I agree, that is a damn uplifting song, that I make sure is never on any of my public playlists :)

6. A couple
Bread's self-titled debut and Third Eye Blind's self-titled debut. The 3EB one helped me through my miserable freshman year of high school, and Bread's debut was the soundtrack of the very emotional months that followed a difficult break-up in college. I remember playing it over and over. I still love both of these albums. 3EB's follow-ups didn't manage to live up to their debut; the first album's lyrics still have an effect on me emotionally- the darker tracks that make up what would have been the album's "side two" in the record/casette era. As for Bread, they're constantly ragged on but I'm an unapologetic Bread fan, and their first album may be their best: a great pop-rock album, with a number of dark and/or wistful tracks.

9. Even with her contributions to *, Reba's "Walk On" seems to be a great motivator
however, Dolly's "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" works even better!!!
