8. I was pretty surprised. |
|
And even more surprised nobody has come forward, saying they know her, yet.

19. I'm surprised the network news isn't all over this |
|
With all the "missing white women" coverage, one would think they would jump on the "found white woman" story every once and a while

20. There are many missing adults |
|
And only very few who get attention.
Now a pretty missing teen, from a wealthy family... well, you know...

I wonder if this is why the authorities are saying they think she's in her 20's when she thinks she's in her 40's and has a few grey hairs?
It sucks if they have to lower her estimated age just to get her story any attention.

...it sucks being missing at all. John Walsh has done a lot to try to create a national data base.. but, from what I've read and heard they have a long way to go.

Which I bet doesn't help the memory. I hope she regains it and finds she has a nice life.

I watched a special on amnesia on PBS and it was really terrifying. This one guy got it and he just had a scrap of paper in his pants with a phone number on it...he'd spent a week or so in a hospital and he was so relieved when he called the number and a woman there recognized his voice. Poor lady, I hope she doesn't have dependents waiting on her...I guess there would be a missing persons report if she did. :(

12. Well, she obviously isn't from Texas... or |
|
..didn't have a thumbprint, from a driver's license, registered. Maybe she didn't drive? I don't know.
She said she remembers the airport in New Orleans. Maybe her memory will come back soon. I hope so, for her sake!

27. she might get some memory back, I hope |
|
I had amnesia after a TBI and I won't ever remember parts of the 90's but a lot of random stuff from the 80's has come back. At the beginning of it I wouldn't have been able to tell my Mom's name, luckily I was in a hospital bed then, not on the loose. It sounds like she had a mini stroke which could be scary if she'd been somewhere more vulnerable Brain injuries are all different, it's wierd.. and I think people's minds can block stuff out from emotional trauma too.

32. I saw a documentary the other day about this very thing |
|
It's called "Unknown White Male" and it's about a guy who found himself in Coney Island but couldn't remember his name or anything. He ended up in the hospital but they couldn't find anything wrong with him. All he had was the phone number of the mother of a friend of his. So her daughter (his friend) came to the hospital and recognized him. I thought it was strange that he was riding around on the subway without his wallet. But that's beside the point. He hadn't recovered his memory in a the few years the movie covered but doctors were convinced he had a good chance of getting it back. I don;t think they knew why he lost it in the first place.
