Direct Deposit woes

I have direct deposit for my paycheck. This morning I went to deposit a check at 10AM and noticed that my paycheck had not yet been deposited.

According to the bank there is a problem with the "clearing house" and my paycheck will show up sometime today..

SOMETIME TODAY?

In the meantime I have very little money. Yes, I am one of millions of working class Americans who live paycheck to paycheck...so shoot me now.

I am supposed to rent a U-HAUL truck tomorrow and they will place a $75 hold on my account when I go into rent it. What remains will barely cover putting gas into the vehicle.

What do I need to do to make sure the bank covers any overages caused by THEIR error and THEIR malfunction?
