How come a new product can get released BEFORE it's put up on their website? |
|
Gateway MX8739. Supersedes the MX8738, but is not mentioned on their website!
(the 8738 having 40GB more disk space than the 8739, but seems otherwise identical...)
As no other reviews can be found for this model, only store promos and other ads, it must be very new.

1. Piss-poor marketing, if you want the straight answer. |
|
It frustrates the hell out of me as well, when a company advertises a product and has NO information about said product on their website.

2. Gateway was known to be a good brand... of course, they also bought eMachines... |
|
I did find a couple user reviews on Best Buy's site (partly mislabeled for the 8738) and the bulk of them are 4 or 5 stars; only one 2 star review and other people contradicted him. Which is better than everyone agreeing with him...
I think it's going to be a good model. The HP model just didn't strike my fancy despite having almost twice the battery lifespan. (Tweaks will improve the Gateway's longevity, as will WinXP, no doubt.)
