"Pommes"
* An apple will be a friend at all times.
* Take an apple to lunch.
* There are stories to be read in apples.
* The red cheek of an apple will warm you when snow falls.
* The juice of green apples will cleanse your skin of impurities.
* Slices of tart apple will close the eyes of the dead.
* Sleeping on apples you will dream of one who loves you.
* To cure melancholy, suck on the bruises of apples.
* When the devil comes to get you, hide in an apple tree.
* My apple is your apple.
Half an apple is better than none.
There is a little apple in everyone.

Yeah, I hope people like these "lighter" ones. 'Cause tomorrow, things are getting weird again.

4. Yeah, and even though it's old (I found it in '94) it has stayed with me all this time. |
|
Also, it's part of a rare number of poems I've found that work both as poetry, and as a collection of useful idioms/axioms. I like art that does work.

Very nice. I now have a newfound respect for apples! I'm copying this one. Thanks.

Just to let you know, I've never been a poetry fan at all. However, since you've been posting them, I've been trying to see the appeal. There was one that you posted a few days ago that I went over line by line with my husband so that I could understand what it was really saying. It was an interesting exercise.
I don't think that I'll ever be considered a big fan of poetry, but you've certainly made me appreciate the art form more. Many poems that you've posted have really touched me, and if they haven't because my lazy brain doesn't want to take the time to truly understand them, they've at least exposed me to some new ideas.
Thanks again for your efforts.

9. That's a pretty good summary of a lot of scattered myth and folklore. |
|
THat might make a good book, all the myths and folk tales about apples and apple trees and their magical properties. :)
