When would you leave the US?
What, if anything, would cause you to leave the US?

1. I'm mostly there already. Maybe the only thing keeping me here
is my mom who is in her seventies. My kids are cool and I can work from anywhere.

This place is just way too repressive for me. The Dominionists have formed an unholy pact with the corporati. I don't even recognize this country any more.

9. I've thought about it for retirement
I've thought about going to a place where the dollar would go further, if such a place still exists at the time.

I'd definitely leave to make a better living, if economic conditions warranted it. It if was good enough for my ancestors, I can do it too.

Though most of us assume there would be someplace that would take us. That might not be so. We're aliens elsewhere (except those on the thread who might be dual citizens). Cracks me up how we assume other countries will always take us when we are so picky about who we take from other countries. Other countries have the same right to "control their borders."

28. Sorry to break the news to you, treestar, but our currencies are just about at par right now.
Your dollar will go only slightly further in Canada than at home. Our economy has changed in the last couple of years. But there are other reasons to choose Canada.

13. A draft.
My sons and daughter will NOT fight so that a select few Americans can get rich, and a boatload of idiots can drive their massive vehicles for under $3/gallon, or so we can wield our economic and military might over the weaker nations of the world; and they will most certainly not die for any of the above meaningless causes.

15. Seconded.
If they institute the draft, I'm out of here as soon as I can afford to leave. I refuse to have my son's life put at risk for the sake of the wealthy elitists who wage their profit wars overseas.

I'd leave in a heartbeat if I had the chance, although perhaps I've waited so long that no other country would take me unless I were a rich retiree.
