sage lounge advice needed... |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 02:21 AM by ruiner4u
due to downsizing I was moved from an office position to a sales position...
A person who I thought was an equal, whom I would happily pull up misc data for, and would let spend 'chill' time in my work space has become about one rung higher up on the sales ladder from myself...
In the past three weeks when I have dealt with him he has always talked down to me, treated me as an idiot when i was only asking questions that I wouldnt know and would only help him in his sales and always gotten a negative attitude that I was bothering him, when I could have just passed it off and let him miss an albeit small percentage of the much loved sales...
I have the chance to be quiet, or rip his throat out to our mutual boss and give example upon example of how he treats me and others on my level...
What would you do?

I have played the corp game for 10+ years, and finally put it to an end.
You can either play the game to win - and kick peoples' ass, or let it be and suffer through it all until something better comes along.
I was the best manager they had for data centers. Busted my ass for years, played the political game damned well.
But the wife got sick (she is the one in my sig line) and I put all of it behind me.
After years of being an employee who rated 'exceeded expectations' and being able to go to college and have it all paid for, etc, I got laid off - mainly due to the fact that I chose to work from home and care for my wife and daughter.
I talked to the guy I helped to take my old job (I felt he would best represent my engineers) this week. And they miss me, and his life is hell from all the calls and issues. He gets what I said for years, and is just coasting by - because no matter how hard he tries he knows that at any moment he might be deemed non-essential and kicked out.
Hard work CAN pay off, if you are willing to cave in to your beliefs. I put my family first, and paid the price - even though I dedicated years of my life to the 2nd largest bank in the country. 16 hour days, conference calls, etc - in the end it all meant jack.
What to do for you?
Make a choice. Play it to win, or don't play and just slide by and get the money and benefits.

Thanks for the post...
Since I was downsized Im looking for another job, I guess what chaps my ass is the complete turnaround from this guy... More then nothing I am just offended by his attitude...
Ive already decided Im just there till something better comes along, but he has alot more invested in this company then I do.. Then again, if hes willing to treat support the way he does then I figure he does not deserve his position.. hell, its 4 AM and he has crapped on me enough to keep me awake, so I figure there needs to be some waves in his job future...
