And, unfortunately, that girl is bit more over the top than most but I've seen a lot that is very typical in my time as a Girl Scout leader/advisor for older girls (14 and up)

Like the girls who wanted to know how long a bus ride it would be to go to Europe.
The ones who, when asked to make a list of professions that might be needed on a trip to the moon, included a forest ranger and a marine biologist.

Many, many, many more examples and none of it due to public speaking issues. Very little of it due to the native intelligence of the girls. Most of it due to a really, really bad educational system.

I was once very idealistic about Democrats, thinking that we all were people who had open minds and were tolerant of others regardless of their beliefs or social-economic, or yes, intellectual level. I went to UNC Chapel Hill in the late 70s and mostly those from NC had an accent. A few didn't, now that I recall.

Among those who did, there was a wide variety - it wasn't all the same accent, even within one state.
