Have a masters degree and a pretty high IQ. Nice insult to all. Pretty "liberal" of you.

Oh and yes, that girl is a dumbass.

81. I live here too.
And, unfortunately, that girl is bit more over the top than most but I've seen a lot that is very typical in my time as a Girl Scout leader/advisor for older girls (14 and up)

Like the girls who wanted to know how long a bus ride it would be to go to Europe.
The ones who, when asked to make a list of professions that might be needed on a trip to the moon, included a forest ranger and a marine biologist.

Many, many, many more examples and none of it due to public speaking issues. Very little of it due to the native intelligence of the girls. Most of it due to a really, really bad educational system.

63. Thanks
I am a South Carolina native, with a high IQ and graduated on the Dean's list from a very respected university with a degree in Microbiology. Oh yeah...and I'm a fan of NASCAR and the Arts. Go figure. PLEASE would you people stop making generalizations about anything...especially the things you know nothing about? Opinions base on facts are fine but throwing out disrespectful crap to make yourself feel important is childish.

By the way, my family is from KY and I live in Lexington now. Want make some inbred jokes to make you feel better.

Debbie
Lexington, KY

64. Dim?
I think we know who is dim around here!

I swear, I never thought I would get in one of these discussions but I am so sick of the narrow mindedness of some people. I was once very idealistic about Democrats, thinking that we all were people who had open minds and were tolerant of others regardless of their beliefs or social-economic, or yes, intellectual level. Then a very wise friend told me I was misguided; Democrats were people too and many were just as intolerant and ignorant of what mattered most, respect for other people.

You just proved it. I'd love to know what state you are from...I'm sure everyone there is extremely smart.

Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 12:26 PM by treestar
It takes place in a fictional NC town and nobody has a southern accent other than the high school coach.

I went to UNC Chapel Hill in the late 70s and mostly those from NC had an accent. A few didn't, now that I recall.

Among those who did, there was a wide variety - it wasn't all the same accent, even within one state.

but we have a friend who's been an "extra" since practically day one. He's one of the background students, skateboarder/beach 'dude' - or something like that. I don't know if he's ever had a speaking part, but he grew up in Franklinton, NC.

I keep meaning to try and catch it sometimes to see if we can see him but never think to look and see when it's actually on.

Almost sounds like she was so nervous and didn't "know the answer" and just babbled, like she took that advice about answering a different question when you don't know the answer and then froze.

She may actually be a smart girl - looks like more of a public speaking issue.

I noticed they went out of their way to show a map which included the US, as if they knew their viewers would not "get" where Peru was unless they showed where it was in relation to the US. And they are probably right.

but I lived in S.C. for 4 years and if she's the typical southern baptist south carolina teenager that in encountered down there nothing in her upbringing or education would have prepared her to answer that question with any intelligence anyway, since they think the U.S. is the world.

What could the poor child say? Because a lot of Americans are willfully dumb? Because we don't value education and therefore our schools suck? I couldn't think of a single answer myself that wouldn't have had me thrown out of the pageant.

Even so, her answer was a muddle-headed mess. If there are any unmarried Bush men, I think we've found a suitable bride: one that will make them look smart!

86. nice video response here
check out the banner, too funny, it gets clever at the end
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cBQXgFn6TQ&mode=related&search=

"in order to locate us on the map, we would have to see other countries as well and I think it is in our gov'ts best interest that we just don't think about other countries, because if we actually thought about them, and saw them on maps, then we may be curious about what they do and who they are and the more we know about people the less likely we are to encourage our govt to invade and take over their resources."

I love this, even though it's slow getting started it's clever and the barbie is a nice touch.
